View Full Version : Strange switching effect...

OK I've got 1 point on skele mages. During prebuff gear ups it to 5 with my equipment giving me 3 magi. My normal buff is +2, so again that is still 3 magii. But when I switch from my prebuff weaponry, I lose 2 magi, dropping me down to 1... even though at both levels 5 and 3 I can have 3 magi...

What's the deal?

ETA: Yes this is 1.12 patch. Maybe it would go better in the bug forum but perhaps it's happened to people before and there is an explanation/fix for it.

Could it be that the game only checks your base level in this new patch? I've heard of people not getting the correct number of skellies when switching in other patches, but that was usually just one or two.

That's what it seems like to me. The question I think deserving an answer if that is the case is: what is the purpose? Pre-Buffing is the requisite strength of summoners, fishy or otherwise. To nerf it to such a large degree is strange, since in this case I lose two more powerful level 5 allies compared to the level 3 magi I must now supplement with. Granted the difference isn't huge, but it's still there.

That's how it's always worked for me - 1.10, 1.11, and 1.12. It seems that the weapon switch first unequips the prebuff gear (with consequent destruction of the magi), and then equips the standard gear - but the magi are already gone.

It's only something you can notice when you've got bonuses on both switches, and each would allow more minions than base, though.

Seconded Beamup

I further noticed that the number of skeles lost and the timing of the loss varies a little bit, too, depending upon circumstances.

For instance, if I summon skeles in Pindle's garden with pre-buff gear, then use the Harrogath waypoint to whatever Act, then switch to non-pre-buff gear, I lose fewer skeles (or at least hold onto extra skeles longer) than if I switch from pre-gear and then use the waypoint.

Ah, the joys of micro-managing minions ... :whistling:
