View Full Version : Complaining about D3

Okay so there are a lot of threads either:

1) Complaining about certain aspects of D3, or

2) Complaining about those who are complaining about D3.

I just wanted to point out that the game is in its early stages so some complaints are not yet justified (IE complaining about some detail in the inventory or item mods), however the engine is complete so complaints about that seem like fair game to me.

Also to everyone who thinks we should sit back and trust Blizzard because they have such a good track record; have you ever stopped to think that maybe the reason they have such a good record is they periodically release media to the community and actually listen to the feedback they receive?

This is an essential part of the creation of Diablo 3, and I'm sure the blizzard team wants to hear as much feedback, good or bad, as they can.

Well, okay. :P I only meant that in summer people tend to be more dramatic, so there's more complaining and complaining about complaining.

just wanted to point out that this thread falls into category 2 sort of.

I agree it is annoying. Wish we could have more speculation / wishlists than this complaining about colors.

Well I hate the fact that people are complaining that the witchdoctor are taking over the old and passe necromancer.

Raising skeletons and dead monsters, it was a tad confusing to identify which are the real enemies. I think Blizzard does not want to make the same mistakes again.

I still think one of the biggest concerns/complaints among d2 fans is the possibility of a monthly fee:dontknow:

I doubt we have to pay, unless it's World of Diablo eh :smug:

I believed they can earn alot from the sales of the game itself.
It'll be a worldwide phenomenon, like if they released during Christmas etc....

Judging from this forum, the biggest complaint is that the game has too much color.

That being said, I am banking on the game having a fee to play on enhanced B.net, and will be free to play on tcpip / single player.

I just hope the bnet fee is reasonable (not 15 dollars) and covers both D3 and SC2.

There are a few things that I would really like to see in D3 that correlate to the core of the previous titles... since Blizzard claims one of their goals will be to preserve the Diablo franchise's game style.

-Runes (runes were basically currency)
-Magic Finding (ex: mephisto runs)
-The gauntlet cursor!!! After staring at it for so many long hours in DII It would be nostalgic to see it again.
-Teleport (and the sorc)
-PVP (What is diablo without PVP)
-Charms
-rune words (made my low level characters powerful)
-skill synergy. Part of the fun of leveling in hell was to see your primary attack’s power increase.

There are a few complaints I have about some things Blizzard plans to include in D3. Although, nothing about the game is rock solid and can still be changed so I may be complaining over nothing.

-I really REALLY hope they keep D3 far away from WoW. They have Wow for that fan base. We don't want an "Alliance" and "Horde" factions split. Witch Doctor... they can get away with, but Diablo is a different kind of game and they need to stick to that.

-Monthly fee. There is too much to argue here. I just hope they go for extra revenue via expansion packs. I can still pick up D2 right now and play w/o having to pay for a month when i might stop in a week. Monthly fees would deter many fans from buying D3.

-Drops that lock to a certain player. This feature was in guild wars and it encouraged me to do a lot of the game solo. The item is at my feet... so why the f*** can't I reach down and pick it up? I suppose it evens the field for those who have a slow internet connection... which is good. So do some solo mf-ing. It would take from the game play for me if I was closest to a unique item and couldn't pick it up. Part of the fun of boss battles is the chance you might get a kickass item. Sure there is still a chance, but it really brings up your heart rate if you are all grouped around the dead body clicking madly and opening your inventory to see what you got.

-I liked how simple and easy to play Diablo II was and I’m worried that all the extra class-specific quests and in-depth story line will take away from the game play. Again using guild wars, I was often bored with having to do quest after quest and worrying that if I skip some hobo with an exclamation point over his head in some place I’ll never visit again I would miss out on some hidden treasure. So, I would end up doing it. If they include more depth in questing and storyline I really hope you can skip them over. Sure I might investigate the first time and become immersed in the story line... but I remember many a time loving the fact that I could create a new character in D2 and have it at lvl 72 by the end of the day.

-building on the previous bullet, gamespy released an article about an interview with lead world designer for D3:
"I wasn't a hardcore Diablo fan before joining Blizzard," Boyarsky says as we begin talking. "I played them, of course, and I really liked them, but I usually like a lot more story depth in my games."
Another of Boyarsky's ideas is to have each class have a background that explains their skills and why they are interested in the events: "The Witch Doctor is angry, someone who's been broken by a life that's dealt a few too many hard knocks and not enough joy. This is someone tired of being smacked in the head, so he uses his mystical powers to get into the heads of others (and if that doesn't work, a swarm of locusts will get under their skin)." Is it just me... or does this sound lame?
At another point in the article Boyarsky stated "I do recall one idea that I was really resistant to," Boyarsky recalled. "It was going to require me to re-write a third of everything I had created and looking back, I resisted because I just didn't want to do it." In the end, however, the idea was just too good and ended up going in the game, making it an argument Boyarsky says he's glad he lost.
...The lead world designer not only lacks the spirit of the hardcore fan base but is also lazy. I think this guy should be thrown off the project.

Now don't get me wrong, a lot of the new things Blizzard is trying to do are great and I have full confidence Blizzard will put out a great, addicting game. I just hope they stay true to what made the Diablo franchise so popular.

If there are 3 things I want to see in D3:

No teleport skill. It's way too imbalancing.
No leech. It either trivializes PvE or becomes a necessity.
More balance between melee and ranged.

ding ding ding ding ding!!! ROFL:yes:

<if you're talking about school kids of course>

Going to the local supermarket at lunch to grab a couple items and seeing all those pimply faced adolescents just makes me cringe sometimes... of course I used to be one of them.

I choose not to complain yet because:

1. I LOVE the series and am plain happy they didn't 86 it
2. I would welcome changes, I honestly don't want to play D2 LOD part 2 when I can keep LOD installed.
3. I work in software and know that many things can change from the time a product is demo'd to when it's officially released.

It is summer, too.

They have never charged for Battle.net in the passed, kinda lame if they start with D3 and SC2.
