Hello, all.

Just coming back to D2 after four years away (gee, I wonder what put me in the mood this past weekend?). I think I'm going to try a daggermancer, a build I started years ago but never went very far with. I've found partial guides and a few tip threads, both here and in SP, but I can't see darnoc's original guide, because the strat compendium seems to be empty the past few days.

If anyone could point me to a copy of darnoc's (or anyone else's good) guide, I'd be appreciative. Failing that, I have a few questions:

--if I'm aiming for a full or partial Trang's set, what strength do I need (given the -40% item req on two pieces);
--are points in bone armor/bone wall wasted, as ideally I should not be getting hit often;
--similarly, do I need to worry about dex for max block;
--do I need much energy, or should I look instead to mana per kill items; and
--is a holy freeze merc my best bet, or does that keep enemies too close during crowd control?

For the time being I'll focus my skill points in the poison synergies, not take my str above 55, not take my dex above 86 (for fleshripper), leave my energy alone, and dump lots into vit (b/c *everyone* needs that, right?).

Thanks in advance for any info.

w.

I'll see if I can find the guide on my HD. Might take a day or so.

There are people working on the Strat Comp issue, but as you can guess things are rather busy at the moment.

Thanks, Mantis. Having been away for a while, I wasn't sure if the strat problem was new or old. If you can't find it, no worries, I'll just muddle through until it's back up.

In the meantime, if anyone has any suggestions on my questions above, I'd be greatly appreciative.

EDIT: Btw, do the forums not still have bronze, silver, gold, etc., memberships? Mine expired long ago...

We still have pal memberships. You can find info on them here (http://forums.diabloii.net/payments.php).

Daggermancer from the wayback machine (http://web.archive.org/web/20070226233720/http://strategy.diabloii.net/news.php?id=582)

Less tidy version from Daggermancer from google cache (http://209.85.135.104/search?q=cache:cpZ5cm2c050J:strategy.diabloii.net/news.php%3Fid%3D582+daggermancer+strategy+compendi um&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=uk)

If you google what you are looking for, get the url from google, copy and paste it into the Wayback Machine (http://www.archive.org/web/web.php) and let it take you back to that page, you should be able to find what you want.

Many thanks. Just learned the same about the old d2data site. Plenty of knowledge to reacquire. ;-)

Don't like that guide. He doesn't give any equipment suggestions.

I was looking for opinions on stats and bone skills, which I got. I have a basic goal of Trang's, Fleshripper, and maybe Marrow's, which I'll adjust as I see that I need certain mods, et cetera (for instance, how the hell do you reach max block with full Trang's?).

By spending 263 in Dex at level 99.

Heh. Yeah, I had done *that* calculation (at lvl 80, actually, which is still too high). I don't really see any CTB help that I'd want in other gear slots, so I suppose I'll either not use the Trang head or not go for max block. ;-) For the moment, I'll just worry about enough dex for Fleshripper.

Is against the law to not use trangs shield on a poison necromancer. It gives both a good dex boost, and has decent block. Not a bad blocking shield I say. Add the dex from trangs wing, torch, anni and marrows and you've got yourself a good start.
