View Full Version : Digital Download Issue
Anyone else have this problem?
I downloaded D2 yesterday and after installing it with the CD given to me at Blizzard.com, I can only log into the USWest realm. When I try to log into any other realm I get the message that my CD key is supposed to be used for a different game and I should uninstall/re-install it.
I would prefer to play USEast as that is the timezone I live in.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Crowd Control

We do not support people who download D2 here.

And why is that?
And why is that?
CC just doesn't know you can legally download the game yet. I'm sure you can talk about a legal download here. The legal download option is still fresh and new.
I've heard there's a bug that all d/led copies of D2 get west-only CD keys. Shouldn't be too hard to fix for them, I'd think.
Well it's fantastic that at least some get to actually download the game. Europeans don't.
Guess I will have to keep playing West until they fix it.

The reason being that up until right before D3 was announced (coincidence?) Blizzard did not offer any means to leaglly download the game. So any and all downloads of DII were either from a means of a torrent or P2P method or other download site. All of these methods did and still do violate Blizzard's EULA and TOS, for thaose reasons they are against -or were against- the forum rules here.
Now that Blizzard has made it downloadable from Blizzard and now also offers a method to play with out the CD, we allow discussion and linking on those toipcs. However, as before discussion on non legit methods are still against the rules and not allowed.
Gorny - I appreciate you taking the time to reply, I figured it was a simple case of stupidity by the initial responer.
Perhaps in the future, individuals like that (Crowd Control) who use the term "we" (figuring they represent all individuals on this site), will learn to keep their opinions to themselves until they actually take the time to properly investigate the subject matter of a post before responding with false accusations and looking like a total idiot. Saying what he said was the same thing as accusing of me stealing. My words may be harsh, but I will not be accused of stealing. CC, stick to what you know dude, which doesn't appear to be much! Do you actually have such an empty life that you look at every single post here even if you have nothing beneficial to add, or any experience with?
That being said, I am happy to report that my USEast issue has been fixed and anyone considering doing the digital download directly from Blizzard should do so without any concern.
CYA all in the realms.

Be aware that these questions about illegal downloads were asked here on a regular basis, and it all went down the same way -> instant ban.
CC wasn't aware of the new possibility (which is there for only a couple of days so that isn't really strange) and must just have thought "here we go again".
This thread is now closed, we do not - I REPEAT - WE DO NOT ALLOW FLAMING of anyone for any reason.
CC's response about it being not allowed here was not based on stupidity, like I said yesterday Blizzard only recenelt made downloading the game and playing without the CD a legal thing, but illegal methods are still illegal. Hence CC's reply and my reply sorting it out.
When anyone (mod or regular site member states "we" in a reply, they usually mean this site. They have been here long enough to know how this forum work and you the OP (and infact, all the new users since D3 was announced would be wise to listen to them.)
If anyone has a problem with a post, report it and I or another mod will deal with it if there is an issue to address.
Those who continue to create posts that are flame, rude, or abusive in nature are going to find themselves not posting here real fast. Understand?
Any questions? Send a PM.
