Hi, Im very exited about D3 and all but I looked at the item wiki and noticed they were talking about DPS(damage per second) and the number of attack per second. I was like oh no oh god they wont do that I dont know if anybody could confirm this to me but I hope they are keeping the "click mouse button like a madman to attack" and not a one click and it attack automatically maybe some like that but I think it's a bit what makes you feel more involved in diablo than other rpg's. I just hope they dont mess up with the old control scheme too much there seem to be nice improvement but dont touch my clicking madness :D
no worries, diablo 2 also had DPS stats on every weapon so it's not indicative of anything. Also, I doubt they would use auto-attack, it wouldn't work at all if you have to attack many enemies at the same time : )
DPS is probably only informative. Just recalculating your attack damage with current speed.
The other thing I am really worried about is that I will have to change skills a lot (like in most MMOs) and manully click on the monster I want to use the skill on. I just like friendliness of spamming my spells/attacks through right mouse button. I love my Frenzier clearing whole level without releasing the rm button :)
i bet its just a replacement for *slow attack speed* *fast attack speed* and what not. it would give more depth and detail to the weapons to have more accurate attack speeds instead of the general ideas of the d2 weapons.
I'd have sworn I saw a quote somewhere about one of the goals of d3 was the fun of d2 without the carpal tunnel. I'll be interested to see what they do with skill activation.

Seems the way it'll work is you hit the number keys to activate a skill, and you can also assign skills to the right mouse button, a la D2. Whether you're limited on which skills you can assign to the mouse and which skills go on the hotbar, is left to speculation at this point.
It's a pretty good system in my opinion. Mythos (the free "MMO" from Flagship Studios, that plays very similiarly to Diablo) uses it and it works well enough there, although I expect the controls to handle even more smoothly in D3.
Basically you can assign situational\buff\area skills and such to the hotbar, and use something like a bash type attack, something that resembles your auto attack is used frequently, as your right mouse click. You can scroll between right mouse skills using tab or the mouse wheel.
D2 requires massive research outside the game to get the most out of your characters... I for one hope a fair bit of that (IAS calcs and most of the stuff that gives the LCS its name) will be incorporated into the game, though I recognise Blizzard wouldn't want to alienate newbs with information overload either. A dps display would be one thing that might be nice to have.

Hmm I only need to click and hold once to keep attacking an enemy in D2, so I'm not sure what you're talking about here. :alright:
