I know most of you guys (and girls) lost the habit of checking the main page (http://www.diabloii.net/) or the news forum (http://forums.diabloii.net/forumdisplay.php?f=122) over the past few years, as the D2 news dried up and the FotD's stagnated. You may want to refresh those bookmarks though, since we've been posting a ton of stuff over the past couple of weeks -- movies and transcripts and screenshots and more -- and will continue to do so over the months to come as Diablo III's development progresses. Here's a copy of news posts I made the past two days, rounding up WWI coverage from around the net.

Saturday:

Every gaming site has posted something about Diablo III by now, and while most of it is just a regurgitation of all you guys have seen already, there is some good stuff out there.

Tooting own horn first, since we make a habit of providing the best D2 and D3 coverage. Our image gallery is the only place you can find every Diablo 3 screenshot (http://www.diabloii.net/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=546) and artwork (http://www.diabloii.net/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=547), from the WWI press CD and the D3 site. We've got a chat transcript covering the opening D3 Q&A session (http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=668018), and the second on design fundamentals (http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=668039), and check out our D3 @ WWI article (http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=667313) for links to WWI movies and other goodies we've posted.

IGN has an interview with Blizzard President Rob Pardo (http://uk.pc.ign.com/articles/885/885139p1.html) as well as a live blog from the Design Fundamentals panel (http://pc.ign.com/articles/885/885126p1.html).

Gamespot has a video interview with Rob Pardo (http://www.gamespot.com/video/930659/6193139/diablo-iii-interview), a video wrap up of WWI day one (http://www.gamespot.com/video/930659/6193140/blizard-worldwide-invitational-2008-day-one-wrap-up), and their summary of the presentation (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/diablo3/news.html?sid=6193137&tag=topslot;title;1&om_act=convert&om_clk=topslot).

Gamespy has posted their early analysis of Diablo III (http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/diablo-iii/885140p1.html).

Gamasutra has some coverage of the presentation and the Q&A sessions (http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=19213).

Kotaku has a humorous summary of WWI day one (http://kotaku.com/5020539/blizzard-worldwide-invitational-day-one).

Blizzard's official press release (http://www.blizzard.com/us/press/080628.html) is worth a read, and of course the official site (http://www.blizzard.com/diablo3) is full of goodies.

Sunday:

There were two hour-long Diablo III panels at the WWI on Sunday (http://nihilum.mousesports.com/en/news/834,wwi__schedules_and_live_video_streams/), the World Lore & Art, and Denizens of Diablo. Everyone covered the first in the morning, while almost nothing has been posted about the afternoon panel. We'll have full videos of both later today, but for now:

IGN has a wrap up of Saturday's design panel (http://pc.ign.com/articles/885/885161p1.html), and coverage of Sunday morning's Lore panel (http://pc.ign.com/articles/885/885169p1.html).

Gamespot has posted a recording of Blizzard's highlights of WWI weekend video, as well as coverage of the first half (audience questions not included) of Sunday morning's lore and environment panel (http://au.gamespot.com/video/942519/6193148/videoplayerpop?). It's embedded below. They've also chopped up the various movies (http://au.gamespot.com/video/942519/6193148/videoplayerpop?) into bite-size chunks, for easier, lower quality digestion.

Gametrailers.com has done the same (http://www.gametrailers.com/game/8234.html), but more so. Their readers also have ranked Diablo III as the #1 game in the universe, so they can't be all wrong, despite what you might think if you scroll down to one of the comment threads.

Kotaku has a short feature with a lot of photos (http://kotaku.com/5020630/blizzard-worldwide-invitational-the-blizzard-museum-show-diablo-3-concept-art)of the Blizzard concept art gallery from WWI.

The Inquirer has a piece (http://www.theinquirer.net/gb/inquirer/news/2008/06/30/blizzard-snubs-nvidia-diablo) on how Blizzard is shafting invidia with their technical design of D3.

Mtv's multiplayer blog offers a surprisingly good quite a good summary of (http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2008/06/28/diablo-iii-design-panel/)Saturday's Design Fundamentals presentation.

Finally, just in case you thought the splash screen rumors were done with, now that the game has been announced... think again. Several sharp-eyed players have pointed out (http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=668490)that at least some of the runes from the splash screens are reproduced on page 13 (http://www.diabloii.net/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=735) of Cain's Journal, plot-recapping book feature that's part of Blizzard's D3 site (http://www.blizzard.com/diablo3/world/lore/journal.xml).

Edit: Awesome, ive been waiting for video of the Environment and Lore panel, though it is a shame Metzen wasn't on hand, particularly since they are expanding on the world. Love hearing from him.

i'm really happy that it will be 8 person maximum in a server and i hope they will not make us pay for d3, if they don't make us pay i know a game that will be left behind(world of warcraft:thumbup:) thats will be good we need millions of player in d3 hehe

Where did you hear / read that it will be 8p max games?

the max per game is 4-5, at the moment. it's based on what plays best, not what's technically feasible. they don't want overcrowded areas or players in the same game off doing different things. party co-op. if anyone asked them about special online-only content raid events, or pvp arenas, I didn't hear it. (and they wouldn't have answered anything definitive anyway)

5 would be a lot better than 4... You'd be able to do 2v2 and 1 judge. I really hope it's not 4 max.

I'll be surprised if they don't have arena games and other online pvp options, and the limit per game will be reevaluated in those circumstances.

The 4 or 5 amount is based on what's a good pvm game in a party, and that's basically how it worked in d2 also. There were 8 in games, but did you ever try to play all in the same area at once? i mean sure, people would all clear the cows, but they'd all spread out. 8 at once on a baal run isn't so much "fun" as it is "chaos." we're diablo players, not zerg.

A good party of 3 or 4 in d2 was so much more fun, since everyone had a role and you could co-op and take turns. Assuming it wasn't late in a season and everyone was so overpowered in their uber gear...
