This is probably a pointless question considering the teaser just came out but does anyone know the name of the woman who is speaking throughout the trailer or does anyone recognize her voice?

Also does anyone know who composed the music for the game?

I don't know. I didn't really think much of it. I don't take women seriously.

Joking aside, her name may be Leah.

Not yet. Matt Uelman was the sound designer for Diablo 1 and 2, but he left Blizzard after composing the music for The Burning Crusade WoW expansion, so i doubt its him.

OMG, I can hear this new "sound design" in D3. It sucks big time. If they don't change combat sounds completely I will not buy this game.

The cinematics teaser left me impressed. I had goosebumps at the end, when the woman said "I think it's not safe here". I really hope they deliver that kind of suspense and intrigue in the game and not just talk about more RPG content. And the great thing is, you can skip it after the first play-through or if you just don't like RPG, so everybody wins. IMO, it's really important that a game has a great story and a feel to it - it attracts many players who first fall in love with the story and the feel of the game and secondly the loot and all that.

I want to know more about this Leah. The new interactive NPC mode looked interesting.

She seems to me like she's the Marius of Diablo3... not to say she's evil or corrupt or weak like he was, but I think she will end up being the parallel story that we follow along with our own.

Like one of the previous posters said, story is important to me, but not everyone likes to have to follow the cut scenes to know what they have to do. That's why the D2 story model was so good, because you could skip the cut scenes and not be lost in your own story.

I believe the voice actor is the same as Tyrande's for Warcraft III. It was way too similiar to be someone else.

I think it's Leah.

Who's Leah?

There seems to be the same girl in all the consept art with cain, in the game play vid the barb says, "Leah worries after you." She seemed to be studing under Cain from the art and trailer.

Cain's apprentice, nurse maid or a Marius figure?

Think this is Leah:

Think this is her in the Cathedral:
http://www.blizzard.com/diablo3/media/artwork.xml#22

also in blizzards artwork trailer vid at 0:06 you see her and Cain
same vid at 1:10 you see a female form behind Cain

In the Cinematic trailer I think you can see her outside the Cathedral(?) at 1:36 watching the meteor at at 1:38 she is running inside towards Cain at a Desk.
At 1:47 she does the Gasp and the "it's not safe here"

Well its 20 years on so possibly it could be the daughter of a D2 character?

I also thought she could be the barbarian's daughter, but I don't think they'll give a class more importance than another. If the barbarian was a NPC...

She can be an orphan from Tristram also.

Isn't the question who does the voice and not who the character is? Its pretty obvious who the character is.

Maybe she is Griswold's daughter! lol

She's the reason Wart's third leg will be found chopped off in the woods somewhere.

yeah, the trailer gave me major goosebumps all throughout, i love the way the sound direction is going, the "arabian" thing i think they're going for is working, at least for the gameplay and the teaser they showed. I think we all have to get use to the fact that D3 will be different, accept it, and quite griping about what isn't the same as D2=)

The instant I heard the voice on the teaser I was reminded of the voice of the sorceress in D2, and I'm 95% sure it's done by the same woman.

She says something when you first enter the den of evil: "there's a smell of death in this place" or something similar
Killing the Countess for the first time: "I hope to find other such treasures"

I could go on and on.

Anyways, according to wikipedia, the woman's name is Liana Young.

Check it for yourself, load up D2 and do a few of the early quests and compare it to the trailer. Alternatively, if you press some of the buttons on the keypad while playing the sorc she says a few words, but i'm not sure if you can discern all of her intonations without hearing her say the longer sentences.

What if she's Adria's daughter, the witch. When Cain returned to Tristram he might have found Adria and her daughter, Adria died and daughter is now studying with him

Her voice to me sounded like the same one used for the assassin that you can converse with in Kurast during Act III.

Thank you to the three people that gave me insight to the woman's voice in the trailer and not giving me the name of the character, Leah, she is giving the voice to.

Mitchflow i think your right about the sorceress' voice, they are somewhat similar

I think it is a different voice actress than the sorceress in diablo 2. The sorceress voice actress has a rougher and lower pitched voice it seems.

She might well be no one of any real connection to the game plot. Cinematics take so much longer to produce that the game usually changes a great deal during the production, and thus you get cinematics that are only peripherally related to the overall plot, or that don't feature characters you ever see in the game. Marius, for instance.

That happened with HGL too, with Jessica the young girl and then the military leader in the cinematics. They'd largely forgotten her in the game plot, and when the cinematic was released at E3, Ivan, the HGL story guy was like, "Who's the blonde? I guess I'd better write her back into the game, somewhere."

I'm almost certain that the voice actress is the same lady who voices Sylvanas in the WarCraft series - Piera Coppola.

Here she is in WC3: http://youtube.com/watch?v=f0-FkrDI0yk

And as a fan of animation, I'm also aware of her in The Batman cartoon series (even though I'm not particularly fond of the show :P): http://youtube.com/watch?v=Auj4rnNanGE

It's a voice she puts on, so she doesn't always sound like that, and in that The Batman clip, you can't really hear traces of it until 0:49 onwards.

Here's another The Batman clip where you can hear her (a little at the start only, and even then, not doing 'the voice' to its full extent ):
