It is going to be perfect.
I don't care about runes, runewords or whatever ruined Diablo II after LoD was released.
The video is just great. Best news ever. Thank you Blizzard for not making it a WoW-clone. THANK YOU.

It took a little over ten hours to get the gameplay video.
Am I wrong in thinking that the graphics look like the WoW engine reskinned?

Heh, we were posting here during the actual announcement, hours ahead of anything at the Community forum. Monzee beat me cuz getting here was sooo laggy. Is that because people are going to the Diablo3 subsite here at this website? That site beat us here by 13 minutes. Laggy too at the Blizzard site, you first get just a black screen and it takes awhile for the animations to appear.
Like I posted earlier, they seem to be trying a throwback to the feel of Diablo1, while keeping popular elements of D2. The tristram music for one thing at the convention. Is that going to be a part of the game, or was it just a teaser? We were told that years ago they made a soundtrack to D3, cheaply in the Czech Republic or Slovakia and that it had bits from Wagner and other well known classic composers. Blizzard didn't like the game overall and shelved it, to be reworked.
So they added creepy music and a creepier character select screen, of which is revealed two characters:
1) My Barb's uncle, Thygaar. Yes, it's clearly him. Same clan. No respect, wipes the snot hanging from his nose and spits on your turf. Moves slowly and will carry a big stick. He can ww and leap, but alas, is inept at leap attack, unable to make a cleavage just before landing. Still unclear is if he can throw Doctor Tutugu's poison concoctions or throw a boomerang.
2) Endugu's bastard brother, Tutugu. He sounds like a screeching banshee with laryngitis. (The necro had limited types of attacks, just bone and the rarely used poison, and often people with all too many minions.) Witch doctors can revive. They use fire (so can necro's in LoD against poison or magic immunes). Still to be determined are the bones he will cast on the ground to deal out a curse. Time to dust off the Tarzan movies.
I like the colorless, wasted world environment.
The younger brother of an actual tester said his brother summed up what he had been given: "Diablo3 is worse than Diablo2". I don't know if this was the original D3 game presented to the brass in southern CA back in 2006. That was a while ago. They were supposed to have the game engine done then, music and a general look-and-feel. As for that 'look', it was supposed to be far superior to D2. What we are seeing seems to be a good bit better.
Tidbit revealed years ago: now you accumulate unused skill points and can spend them in a big lump. What I heard was that won't be done in D3: the more you use a skill, the better it gets. Blizzard threw those ugly stat and skill point tabs at us for the first year, to make us get rid of them by spending points. They don't like accumulators. This is an old tidbit from 2004, its ancient history... or is it?
So they have had time to rework it. And they will have perhaps a year or so in addition to that. The Blizzard brass rejected the game before, and perhaps the game testers had a hand in that, or are still influencing the course the development is taking. If only they had listened to us, here in Classic, about LoD...
Going to try it anyway. Just maybe i need to buy a new computer to run those graphics :/
