Anyone know?
I dont see what he shouldnt be capable of dropping so yes.

Pretty sure he cant drop silks, goldskin or soj...

concurs, i'm sure the higher uniques are too high for norm diablo to drop.
i am 100% sure i know norm diablo can NOT drop a soj. the earliest a soj can drop is from nm (nightmare) cat4 champions or special mosnters (but NOT andarial).

I beg to differ. Normal diablo has been said to have high enough level to drop soj and all other uniques in the game.

To my knowledge, champions and uniques do get +2 and +3 to their mlvl's. Also remember that Act Bosses have their own mlvl's, which are not determined by area levels.
The Act bosses mlvl, by difficulty are (Normal/Nightmare/Hell):
Andarial = 12/37/62
Duriel = 22/47/72
Mephisto = 26/51/76
Diablo = 40/65/90
Yes, Andarial cannot drop a SOJ on Nightmare, and yes Andarial's mlvl is coincidentally identical to catacombs level 4 area level.
Edit: Thanks goes to Go_Limyh for helping me seperate the expansion mlvl's from the classic ones.
From this we can determine that nm andy of course cant drop soj as her mlvl isnt high enough while the champions surrounding her can. Normal dia however, is higher mlvl than nm andy oddly enough and therefore can drop soj as this drop requires mlvl 39.

ah thanks, didn't know (or forgot) norm diablo's lvl was so high.
monzee, orphan, go_limyh are right. listen to them. i was wrong. sorry for mis-info again.
now it's jsut a matter of what lvls the uniques are at, but too lazy to look them up. if any uniques are over lvl 40.

Ok - so if NORMAL Diablo CAN drop soj, silks and goldskin, who here has ACTUALLY gotten these items from him? Oh and btw, hearing about someone who has gotten these is not valid proof - as 'they' talk alot and have found lots of things that you and I have never seen :thumbup:

My friend got a goldskin from norm diablo back in '02 :) I'm guessing his levels have not been lowered since.
FOund soj last ladder from norm diablo while rushing my other chars..
Anywa, monster level is 40 -> check list for needed level to drop certain item and you can see that Norm diablo can drop all uniqs in classic.
I think in last or the ladder before a friend started playing since long time and yep killed norm diablo to get to nightmare and ding a soj :)

So question on soj. Would it be faster to get a soj from normal diablo or hell andariel? I have the time now to invest in hundreds if not more runs to get this unique ring.
Hell Andarial especially if you glitch her.
If only looking for soj then you shuold wear mf gear too while glitching, since you are not looking for rares. Oonly sojs. If you looking for rares that are worth a soj (faster way to get your hands on soj) then do memph and andy with no mf. Just glitching.

I recall getting a stone of jordan to drop in act 3 normal (sewers) ages ago, I certain that Diablo could drop one.
Only dia can drop it in normal. Maybe he chased u back to act 3 :scratchchin:?
I got my soj last ladder while glitching (sic!) normal Dia (quite fast but it always goes down to luck) but I know it sounds like an overkill. :crazyeyes: I did it as an experiment.

when i first started playing in 03' i found my first soj in the weirdest place ever. it was walking through the camp in hell in the forsest where the yetis are, killed a unique, and a soj dropped. i wasnt even equipped with MF gear. unfortunately i didnt know what it was back then when i first started playing and traded it for something not so awful but nothing near worth a soj =/
ah live and learn, live and learn...
About 6-7 weeks ago, I create a game to xfer some items. When I was done, I figured why not go kill diablo for the heck of it. To my surprise a soj dropped.
While I did get a soj from normal diablo, I would have to say glitching hell andy and meph is the best way for sojs, since I've gotten 5 more from the both of them since (with zero mf too - looking for just rares).

I found soj in first nm d run two weeks ago so i know for fact nm d can drop a soj, but dont mf in normal because normal drops always have limitable mods. mf always in hell because you have the best percentage of something worthy dropped from anything.
After starting up classic a week ago, and playing maybe an hour a day at most, I just found an SoJ yesterday on the way to nightmare mephisto, in a basket thing in the durance level two. I was using my skelemancer equiped with full angellics, a low tarnhelm, a 3d sheild, and hotspurs.
2 seasons ago I found one in a basket in hell flayer jungle with my woestave barb (zero magic find). Also found one on hell duriel before.
I'm going to always open chests and baskets from now on.

err... in the quote of mine u referenced...i ment to say andarial.... why i typed diablo i do not know...
the rest of the quote is correct in about nm cat 4....i just typed diablo instead of andarial (diablo isn't in cat4 lol)

soj corrections:
1. soj CAN drop from norm diablo. (norm diablo CAN drop every unique in the game). norm diablo has a mlvl of 40 which is why he can drop a soj.
2. soj can NOT drop from nm andarial.
3. soj CAN drop from uniques in nm catacombs 4, though.
4. any monster who has a mlvl = or greater than uniques in nm catacombs 4, CAN drop a soj. i believe a soj is level 39. normal monsters in nm catacombs 4 are mlvl 36. so uniques gives +3 mlvls which makes 39 and that means they can drop sojs. nm andarial is hardcoded and who's mlvl is LESS THAN 39 and that is why she can NOT drop a soj in classic.
