The new number disproves the number=letter theory
but now there is a new theory
"The Lost Numbers"
= 4 8 15 16 23 42

"According to the 1975 orientation film in the Sri Lanka Video, the Valenzetti Equation "predicts the exact number of years and months until humanity extinguishes itself."

The arcane sanctum is possible, but it's far from an exact match. You're conveniently ignoring the orbiting orbs that don't match up with the 3 dots in the rune. Besides, even if you buy that identification... why? What's the significance of them putting a rune that looks like one of the buildings from warcraft? What if it looked like oh... Griswold's smithy? Or a turret from SC? A theory is needed to account for or match the image.

How about it's more symbolic? It's a sun or central object being orbited by 3 planets; basically a summary of the first 3 runes. The central object is Blizzard, and the 3 orbiting worlds are their gameworlds, as represented by the warcraft, diablo, and starcraft runes.

That's a reasonable theory, but it lacks explanatory or predictive value. So what if it's blizzard being orbited by their gameworlds. What does that tell us, or predict for splash screens 5 and 6?

I think the "hell frozen over" theory that was just a joke after image 1 is looking more feasible. It's a rather pedestrian metaphor, that diablo might be melting his way out from the ice, but hey...just might be that simple?

Here's some **** I've been digging around with this:

First off, hadn't seen this before:

http://battle.net/images/

I wasn't able to translate this binary, but several people have come up with this solution:

http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/8885/getready10705yb8.jpg

And of course, if you look at the title bar on the decode, you get 10705, in which this image:

http://www.battle.net/images/splash_diablo.jpg

Has those numbers. Also of importance, the eyes. I'd be willing to be they'd match up. The image name? splash_diablo.jpg

Another interesting aspect about the splash images is the ever changing size of the image. One thing I've discovered in the latest is that when you multiply the image size:

1230 x 874 = 1075020

And blizzard has never been known for much logic, so lets be illogical and pull out those 0's.

1752

1752 was a pretty important year. Thats when we adopted this calander system, which people for a while refered to satan's calander while *****ing and moaning about losing 11 days of the year. Also in this year, that blaspheming Benjamin Franklin did his famous kite experiment. More of the devils work as some people said. And most importantly, the great fire of moscow, where a large portion of moscow burnt down to the ground, around 2/3rd's of it actually.

Significant? Quite possibly.

Also notice the reoccurring numbers in this whole puzzle: 10 7 and 5... I haven't figured out the point in these numbers yet, nor do I think I will...

CujoXXXI, about the changes in the ice leaving the number 3 unchanged, the "face" on the left side also hasn't changed. It looked different at the 2nd splash image, then changed back again on the 3rd and 4th.

I hate to admit it, but they've done a fantastic job with this. There's ways to spin every sign they've put up into just about anything!

I'm encouraged by the eyes, because they do fit some of the box art from the Diablo series, but you could also argue they're Protoss eyes, or Arthas after merging with the Lich King.

Whatever they result, they've got us all chomping at the bit, which is exactly what they wanted us to do.

I'm not killing it. I'm just trying to ease the disappointment that is going to stem from all these garbage conspiracy theories out there that people are taking with such seriousness. There is no way Blizzard is going to release a new RPG with such a large fan base so close to the Wotlk release. That would impede on their sales dramatically when WoW players are paying subscription fees that provide a constant state of income. Its simple economics. I hate it as much as you, but its not going to be D3.

Will never happen. Economics run corporations, not an eager fanbase.

And besides, Mythos is going to be the real game to look forward to.

Well, Hellgate: London didn't exactly impress me even if it was made by alot of the same guys from Diablo II. Blizzard has a responsibility to make anything with their logo worth buying = Quality

LOL, who said anything them being released at the same time? Whatever game is being announced is just that...being ANNOUNCED. Its a year plus off from an actual release. Hell, probably Xmas next year.

And it doesnt matter who is or is not currently working for Blizzard. Blizzard owns the rights to the diablo franchise and they want to make money. You can bet your bottom dollar if it's not Diablo III now, it will be one day.

Id really like to be supportive of the guys over at Flagship, I really would. They havent exactly gotten off to the best start though. The idea is to move forward and not rest on past accomplishments, which I think they have done so far. HGL isnt doing well, and Mythos is no better than the myriad of Diablo clones out there. Its sad to see these type situations, kinda reminds me of the EQ2/Sony/McQuaid/Vanguard fiasco, heh. Sigil is history, and Flagship is soon to follow by most accounts.
In sure the new team working on D3 realize they are in a large shadow that is the legacy of the Diablo series. I have yet to see them release a bad game and until they do I will be a fan of their work.

[OFF-TOPIC]
Good words, Malrenn. I too felt sad for Flagship. I had such high hopes for that game, for me it looked like it could even surpass the Diablo franchise. A new look, great setting for the story, great cinematics, everything.
Unfortunately, they didn't have the bonus of being from Blizzard anymore and thus couldn't release a game only when it was good. Worse, they went with EA as distributors. This added up for HG:L being crappy garbage at release time, but that was not the only culprit.

The very game was flawed at its roots. Its sense of humor was bad, largely misplaced and utterly destroyed all the desperation sensation that the opening cinematic and earlier story worked to build. The quests were repetitive and story-less. Heck, even the single player story was almost non-existent, which was a major surprise for me. They had a GREAT setting and were the very ones that wrote all that great stuff in D1's manual!
Seemed like the company that made the cinematics should have made the story. The great shout "For the living!" and the phrase "honor the dead, but fight for the living" were almost never repeated in-game, and they seemed to be it's motto at first...

All that coupled with the extremely repetitive graphics, environments and gameplay, killed the mos promising game of all time in our small beloved genre. And that's why I have NO faith whatsoever in Mythos. It's purpose is to be a secondary game, a small MMO just to make some more money with the same engine.

But who knows, maybe they'll survive enough to make a Hellgate:Whatever-Other-City right.
