Alright, so..."Hydra," I know there are discussions on other sites, but let's have our own.

So, I guess I'll start with the mythological Hydra that Hercules slew. As most of us know, the Hydra was a many-headed beast who would grow back two heads in the place of a lost one. In order to stop this, Hercules, with Iolaus' help, burned the head stumps after he cut them off, and trapped the last head, which was immortal, under a large rock. The Hydra lived in a lake in Lerna, at the bottom of which was an entrance to Hades, cue Diablo.

Okay, so applied to Diablo, this could mean that an adventurer once again had to defeat a monster and enter the underworld. However, the many-headedness of the Hydra would suggest to me that there will be several mini-bosses (like Act-bosses), or Diablo will be allegedly killed at least once, but survive, and perhaps become more powerful.

Talk amongst yourselves.

Thats a pretty smart anology there. I hope that Hydra is Diablo so much, as it has basically been confirmed. If you check out the topic I have about hydra a few posts down, you can see the screenshots from Peter Lee's (Blizzard Artist) homepage, which stated he had Hydra pictures coming soon. The site was under construction until "28 july" but now that has been changed the "july" and the gallery mentioning hydra has been locked by password. Intersting isn't it :D.

Yeah it's very interesting indeed, we'll have to see what happens. Interestingly enough, you can't log in to the "admin" account on that website, as it's had too many wrong passwords. I personally find that hysterical, but that's just me.

Hydra was a sorceress' spell of the Fire Skill tree. And that same spell was in Diablo I with the name "Guardian". It was a quest reward for the "Chamber of Bone". "Hydra" is definitely present in the Diablo series... will it be in the future in a different kind?
Don't forget that Hydra usually connects to Fire Magic... and fire is one of the base elements of Diablo, for example the flickering flames in the name.
