Welll, this is slightly OT, but I'm not sure where else to put it.

I'm a Diii.net newbie, so I have two questions about how to actually conduct the trade once it's all lined up here.

1) How does one do a Mule trade

2) How does one message someone ingame to set up an ingame trade if you're not on same server?

3)What's the accepted way to trade uniques like Ani's? Drop in town, or what?

Tank:

A mule trade works like so: One of the people involved in the trade will set up an account with 1 character on it. Say you were trading a Shako for an Anni. Person A makes a mule account, puts the shako on it, and PM's the other person the account name/password. Person B puts the anni on said account, takes the shako, and lets person A know that the trade has been completed.

To message someone in game you type /w *accountname. If they are on a different server (East/West I assume you're talking about?) I think you can type /w *accountname@useast? I'm not positive I haven't done it a whole lot.

Annis and torches have been patched so you can trade them via the tradescreen in game, there is no longer need for drop trades.

For holy freeze you'll want to snag a defensive act two mercenary in nightmare if memory serves me right. If you're lucky you'll get one with a cool name like Emilio or Waheed. :wink:

It's pretty much based on trust. Use a little common sense and you should be fine. I.e. don't mule trade perfect anni or death fathom with a guy who joined two days ago. Something like that. I'm paranoid so I go with direct trading pretty much every time.

Interesting...have a lot of accounts been stolen due to mule trading? Trusting someone is one thing, trusting them with your entire $40 account (plus whatever item is on the mule) is another IMO but maybe I'm just a bit cynical :)

Metal, you make a new account with a new mule and have the item you are trading on it. Usually advisable to also use a different password and change it every mule trade you do. Hope this helps ya out doin' a few trades.

Right click on your diablo 2 shortcut, and click properties on the list that comes up.
Find the target line, and add "-w" without the quotes to the end of the target line so it looks something like this:
"C:\Games\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe" -w

Me and a couple friends trying Ubers for the first time tonight (ladder). We got the 3 organs with limited problems, but nothing that didn't just take a few minutes to complete. There's no way we're doing anything in Tristram, though. We're getting swarmed and, aside from double static while using Conviction, we're not doing any damage to them. I've also been trying to lure him inside one of the building foundations to keep all of his minions from being able to hit me, but i've only had limited success with that too.

Personally I don't like running salvation. Get a treachery RW if you don't have it, prebuff the fade (stand in a fire until it triggers) for an easy extra 60 resists. Beyond that, stack resist charms in your inventory. You need 300 to all cold/lit to cap out against meph's dangerous attacks. If you have that along with max block (cold bolt of doom can be blocked) then he really shouldn't even touch your health with fanat/smite and LT on.

So, I found a Perfect HoZ (200 ED) and while I'm well aware of the value, I'm curious as to what I should do with it. I really need an enigma for my windy (both for forge rushing and for best in slot) however, my perfect HoZ is really only worth half of what a perfect Enigma would cost in HR's. I wasnt sure if anyone could offer me advice on how to deal with trading for HR"s (Jah/Ber obviously), how to deal with them if they are dupes, what I can do to protect myself, etc.

Any sort of information on ways for me to successfully trade this for its full value and how to use it as a large bargaining chip towards getting my Enigma would be appreciated.

So, I found a Perfect HoZ (200 ED) and while I'm well aware of the value, I'm curious as to what I should do with it. I really need an enigma for my windy (both for forge rushing and for best in slot) however, my perfect HoZ is really only worth half of what a perfect Enigma would cost in HR's. I wasnt sure if anyone could offer me advice on how to deal with trading for HR"s (Jah/Ber obviously), how to deal with them if they are dupes, what I can do to protect myself, etc.

Any sort of information on ways for me to successfully trade this for its full value and how to use it as a large bargaining chip towards getting my Enigma would be appreciated.


One thing you can do if you are worried about duped runes is have the 3os armor ready and try to get Jah first. As soon as you get the rune go ahead and throw it into the armor. It cant poof on you then.

Well a couple of my friends are online, so I don't need any help with ubers (I have successfully gotten my organset, and am getting ready to take on trist). As far as how the organs went, I died once vs izzy (was zealing him - doh!), 0 times to dury (cake walk), and 1 to Uber Andy and like 3 times trying to bypass the random minions and run straight to her.

For most of the time, my friends barb was sitting in game (to be on hand to BO me), though this probably made it harder for me. For the sake of efficiency (i.e. not making my friend rejoin 20 times to BO me after I die), does it make that big of a difference if I do it P2 vs P1?

Also, any advice on not dying to Lilith? How do you guys get to the mini-ubers? Do you bring in a sorc to tele there? or charge/vigor sprint past (or try atleast, this is why I died so much vs Lilith) the minions? or do you just kill off every enemy in your way?

I'm sure the answer to not dying so much is embedded somewhat (I'm sure some of it is due to my tactics though...) in my gear, so here's what I'm wearing:

3) Speaking of upgrading, should I cube any of these up a quality level?

4) (This kind of goes into question #1) What are the ias breakpoints? Also, how important is that for ubering?

5) In guides I've seen, they always mention wearing just 1 ravenfrost. If I should replace one of mine, which one should it be? And what should I replace it with? Here are the rings I have sitting on mules:

Sweet! Got my torch, and now will look to sell it un-id'ed for my keysets. It seems like the mini-ubers are tougher than the actual ubers. I only died once against uber meph, when I spontaneously died. (Friend sat in game w/ barb that bo'd me beforehand).

The only complications I had vs UBaal/Diablo was that after I killed baal, D's spawned minions had me pinned in so I couldn't reach Diablo -- for this reason I played it safe and saved and exited then rejoined and kicked D's butt.

I have more of a gameplay question (hopefully this is the right place to ask).

Having just recently started playing, I have enough characters who have finished the game on Hell to have picked a favorite (for MF and general playability): my meterorb sorceress. However, after a couple weeks of MFing I have had some rather rediculous luck and am now faced with the choice of either 1.) keeping my items for other characters, or 2.) trading everything I find in order to drastically improve a single character.

To give you a specific example, I have a 79 zealot who is alot of fun. I just MFed up a HOZ and a Guardian Angel (in one day no less...). Obviously these are nice pieces, but my sorc is still sporting a viper for armor and I don't have any unique charms...

Sadly, I don't feel very comfortable trading items (which I KNOW are worth at least SOMETHING) away for other items on BNet as I have already been scamed....twice, in less than 4 weeks.

So, in short, I'm asking what I should do, should I focus on maxing out a single character with everything I find or horde the nicer items for other characters?

Really the choice is ultimatly yours. Chances are if you continue to mf your likely to find other equip that your Zealot can't use and you can trade for currency and better equip your sorc. Chances are if your not going to get full value for your HoZ if your not an experianced trader so why bother trading it away at lesser price only to buy it back at a higher one when you need it for your Zealoter down the road?

Here's what I suggest. Focus on a couple characters at max, maybe your future MFer and another char you want to play/build. I'd really suggest trying to build your mfer until you can quickly and efficiently tele/kill and have a decent amount of MF. Once you get a good source of income running, it's pretty nice.

On the other hand, if you get stuff for a char that you're planning to use in the near future, go ahead and keep it. It'll help you save time and probably currency later, especially for more expensive or rare items. For instance, if you could get a decent bit of gear to help out your sorc with that gangel, I'd go for it as they aren't too hard to find. On the other hand, the HoZ is a toss-up, as it'll do a lot to gear up your sorc if you get a good deal, though you might have to spend some effort buying another one later.

Another option is that you can attempt to get something that will benefit both characters, and you can transfer it from your sorc as you build up a nest egg. For instance, parlay it into a decent anni or storch (which is pretty easy to trade for a ptorch).

I have an untweaked strapher stuck in act 3nm and want to build a max damage hammer for end game results. I play useast ladder only. I am getting a late start on this ladder and need some heavy help with gear for both of these toons. I have read builds for a max damage hammer but they were from 2004. I am sure some of that applies but is this patch different? I am disabled and play a lot and dont have money to buy highend items. So anything above ingame found items is greatly appreciated. And about your trade rating. I don't think people would care as long as you're willing to make the mule first, at least until you get some ratings and some posts, as well as some experience. If you're doing in-game trades, usually people don't have a problem there either.

first of all i amnot an expert (not knowing it at all:)) for this rushing.

i am planning to lvl my new martial arts assassin on ladder by myself. i can do that alone with 2computers & 2cdkeys (laptop+desktop) with no problem. i have a straMFer bowazon and an uber smiter with good equip so it shall be easy but time consuming for me.

i lvld it upto lvl 10 and realized that it takes very much time. so thought that if anyone need such a service i can provide for free.


PLAN: i shall lvl my MASin a few hours everyday. i shall also do quests. if anyone needs such a service i can also lvl a few players there. in anyway i shall do lvling so i shall do it for free. i shall NOT RUSH. just lvl and when comes to appropriate lvl shall do quest. i repeat i SHALL NOT RUSH to hell. i even dont know things such as baal for quest etc. something like playing untwinked....

PRICE: Free. i am not demanding anything from u. no item or rune or forge or anything else.... taking a few players wont hurt me. i am also not interested in drops if something good drops during lvling. i wont even bother to pickup if an arachnid or windforce drops:D, maybe shall collect sth such as flawless gems / junk jewels and a few very high end items [COA and griffons what i am lf]. but i doubt if they shall drop. my only aim is to lvl upto lvl75 (maybe between 75-80) and do skill/anya quests.

MY LVL GUIDE:
o 1-15 tristram (did upto lvl 10)
o 15-20 tomb runs
o 20-24 chaos or cows
o 24-25 ancients
o 25-40 wsk and baal
o 40-65 quests and chaos runs and wsk baal runs
o 65-75 quests and pit and chaos runs (for wsk need some other rusher characters than strafer and uber smiter)

that can change but seems best according to area lvls , some guides i read and my former experiences.

TIME: time is a bit tricky for me. although i play in USEast server i live in europe. because of connection problems related with my ISP, i started in USEast ladder and now i dont want to start fresh from Europe server. after having nearly a total of 20hr value equipment and x5 85+ characters.......
my play time for this lvling shall be between 16-22GMT (check forum time as reference). although i stated a 6 hour period, i shall play only a few hours (maybe 2 or 3) in this period. there are other things than game u know:D

i shall start (continue for me) at monday 20.10.2008.

A mule trade is a specific account you have with only one character in it. You place your items for trade in the "mule", then send a private message (PM) with the account name and password so that the other person may access the account. They take the items you placed and in return add the agreed items in the same place. Then send a PM to the original person informing them that you have taken their items and replaced them with your items. Im not the best with word so hopefully you follow this.

1. Never do mule trades with someone that has a low Trade Forum Rating
2. When doing a mule trade always use a new account, never one that has other items on it
3. Never use the same password on your mule trade accounts that you use on your main accounts

If you still some how get jacked, the best thing to do is to PM a moderator about this issue. I have done several mule trades on this forum and I have never been cheated out of my items.

In a private game on bnet, I saw the "xxxx Stones of Jordan Sold to Merchants" message appear, multiple times. The thing is, I had the game windowed and was working on something else, and put my computer on standby before I realized what happened. I restarted it, got onto bnet again, and was able to get into the same game, but I havent seen the message come up again.

would exiting the game reset it, or make the clone not "walk the earth"? It doesnt make sense that it would, as it is a server event and the clone should spawn in all games on the server.

Also, when he walks the earth, is the message permanent up in the corner, and does the screen shake?

If he walked when you were gone, upon re-entering the screen would shake and you would be told D walks the earth.

The counter would not reset it is the same game.

OK Guys I have received some very valuable information from Bliz regarding why I had one of my 10 accounts. And only 1 account, I don't nor have ever used any 3rd party programs. What was explained, was that the account I had banned was accessed by someone who was running hacks on their computer.

Moral of the story...... Any mule account that is accessed by other people ........will be subject to banishment..if that person runs 3rd party programs. I lost 50 pgems and 20 jj because the person I was trading with was running hacks and accessed my account.

In the future it may be of value to know if the person you are trading with is running unauthorized programs or not.

Welcome to the forum. You will find that people with high trades numbers are 100% trustworthy. And those with lower numbers are still rather trusty folks. Read and understand the rules before posting, as there are no excuses for not knowing. It is what keeps the site "clean". The style you play is "Classic" I suggest you post n the trade threads that you play classic and are in seacrch of ......... Then guage the responses you get and go from there.

yes pgems are still the bottom form of currency.
Pamethysts are worth 3-4 pgems on this forum due to silverblades crafting addition. make sure you find him to off load those for the best value.

Guys there's an issue that I and a few other traders are concerned about on the trade board. There are a couple traders here who are not trading fairly. I've seen prices being asked of newcomers that are way too high for common items and offers for decent items low balled beyond comprehension. I feel strongly that there should be a fair and equitable exchange for items and I dislike the thought of fellow USE Traders who would take advantage of a newcomer. This is not intended to in any way affect auctions for godly items because the market will dictate the price of those based on need and how many others are willing to bid higher etc. This is meant more for the common items that are traded here regularly.

Since this is the help thread and because we don't have an up to date trade value thread, I will offer my services to estimate prices when asked. I don't propose to be an expert on pricing but with the help of the many other honest traders on the board, we can certainly give a decent estimate. This is a forum. Which means trades are tied to the rules of this forum's trading section, not the overall Bnet fluctuation. I constantly hear people say "I think [x] item goes by [x] price, but Im not entirely sure on that". Every forum section should have a set price list, that may be altered by the activity of the past 3-4-6 months (to keep it fluctuating just mildy in good terms).

This requires a lot of work though.. but certain items (set/uniques) should have a set price determined by mods. Set in Pgems or Hr's at least. It's up to the traders themselves if they want to say "I would also accept [x] item for this", assuming it's nothing over the top (like "I want an IK maul for this sigon shield"). To give traders some freedom they could ask for an amount of pgems or items they believe their own item is worth (this going for OS items, rare items, charms).

But this does require a lot of work, and it does require a lot of talk between mods and the BT's of this forum (the big traders).

This is just my 2 cents on the matter though.

Honestly I've seen this a lot and I send the buyer/seller an immediate PM if they are getting taken. I've posted the location of the price guide numerous times and there is a trade value forum. It's sad, but there isn't much we can do about it... people have to be responsible for their own actions. I've been had several times on here and I've learned a lesson or two. I got a lesson in real life one time to the tune of $1,000+ for a reproduction russian enamel piece (like Faberge). It's far better to get rooked here and save yourself in real life. :)

So yeah, I like the PM approach...

No better ideas though. :/

It's one thing to win a trade and come out on top. It's a whole other issue to rape a new comer. To over charge by 500% for common stuff is just not what this place is about.

The way I feel if you take advantage of the new comers too much then, when they learn they have been taken advantage of, they won't come back. We want folks to come back and continue to trade and bring their commerce here. So giving someone a "fair deal" is winning for everyone here.

We also need to have pricing somewhat parallel to bnet (not exact but close)or folks won't trade here. if I can trade 2 t keys on bnet for a dkey (which is current) but here I need to trade 3 of the same keys for a dkey where do you think I will take my trades? Not here. If hrs = ist on bnet (which they do) and here they = ist +um where do you think I will go to get and trade for hrs? Not here. Although I might sell them here but that one way trading can only work so long.

Im talking about asking 10pgems instead of 2, as mentioned before).

I think what safety is suggesting is attempting to prevent the whole issue in the first place. He is offering his service to give a veteran traders non expert opinion on values so new folks are not taken advantage too much. It might also help to have a sticky right here instead of a different forum to track the basic current values here and bnet so new folks know what to expect. and can make their own informed decisions if they still want to trade here or not.

Thanks guys, good ideas all. I have to echo what spiffy is saying here. I think the best solution would be a stickied thread called "Price Help Thread". This is different from the Price Forum which is for all realms and is more meant for the "I just found a decent item, what it's worth?" questions. This thread would be at the top of this forum, thus visible to newcomers who don't know their way around and will be visited more often by the USE veteran traders who know the current values and are willing to lend a hand.

I think a major part or our current problem with east ladder is that nobody replaced pillz as a "CZAR" of price checks. Safetypro's idea seems to be replacating that function, but in an improved locating. Safetypro, I too would be willing to lend a hand if you don't mind taking the lead.
And as to the price guide I feel the the season 4 guide pillz put together is much closer to actual values than the season 5 guide that hichow put together. The ecomonoy is drifting closer to the prevoius season every week. The major expection seems to be anni's which are 2 to 3 times the value of last seaon.

As to the severe lowballing I have been guilty a time or two, but must say after some of what I have seen lately has made me reconsider doing so in the future. I really appreciate this forum and the outlet for it provides for buying and selling items. And don't want to see it ruined by the huge discrepancies in pricing between here and bnet.

i always tried to price check in the trade values forum, but i was never interested in the high level uniques and what not. i ususally stick to "looks good enough to trade" or "that's a great item, should bring several hrs" type posts. the price guide is woefully out of date, but needs someone to fix it up.

I have been on this forum for a while now, mostly because the help, tips, and information provided by this site is just excellent. The trades going on here have provided me with items I wouldnt have DREAMED of gathering myself. I wouldn't like to see that being negatively effected by scammers of people ripping off others. While I don't really know what price items are worth most of the time, I have a decent idea about standard to mid-level items. I'm more than willing to help out if that would be needed or asked.

This is an excellent forum, and I really appreciate all the help given and esspecially the amount of work and effort everyone of the staff and faqwriters put into it. If I can't help out I at the very least wish you all the best of luck :).

Anyway... there are several things I >never< know if they are valuable or not. OS items for example. I would like to know which items would definitely be worth saving (etherals included) and which could be disposed of.

For example, I found a 4os Colossus sword, and a 4os Ettin Axe. Would those be worth holding onto or should I just dispose of them considering they take up inventory space (which I dont have that much of)
