This is not a casual CTA. The aim is #1-8 on the ladder as fast as possible, for as long as possible. Play well with the team, and I guarantee ladder supremacy.

Why?
So every jackass TPPKer, botter, maphacker, and non-legit pratt can see a CTA-prefixed name ahead of them on every ladder, forcing their e-penii to shrivel up inside them with the knowledge that decent, 100% legit people wrecked them despite their mad-l337 haxx and asshole-gamer tactics.

Team CTA is for the noble addicts and obsessive-compulsive perfectionists here who just can't seem to quit the sauce. These (sadly) expert D2 players value cooperation and teamwork above all else: yes, even itamz.

For all the other decent people out there, you've a home in op xbananax, where tons of awesome, super-high class gaming comrades reside.

Gday, I usually stick to SP but I must say I'm a very Keen Marine for this one. Seeing as I've just dropped out of uni my schedule is joyously bereft of tiresome commitments that people call RL, and I now can't think of a better way to waste away my life than on a 7 year old computer game. I am well versed in the ancient arts of vent, and as an added bonus you get the opportunity to indulge yourselves in the lulzy mirth of my Aussie accent! I have a ton of exp with fishymancers/druids but am open to any character as long as I get a gig.

Making sure CTA is included in your tagging and minimizing the chance that CTA will NOT show up on LADDER NAMES... since longer names tend to bleed out the last few letters of the name in channels - not sure if it happens on Ladder. Especially when u add the various PREFIX's to your Titles... Dest / Conq / Guard - etc... etc... etc... :whistling:

However. The basic tenets of Team CTA can't be restricted to just 8. The overflow of interest provides more than enough to form Team CTA (Crucial), a parallel team with Core tenets: dedication, purity in play, teamwork above all else, and decency of character (that's you, not your sosa/baba/dudu/nepo/azn/pala/ama).

Stuff always happens. Someone loses power, dies, or (Dave) crashes out of a beer-induced stupor. Team CTA Core will need to fill our fallen ranks.

Thus, I posit: Team CTA Crucial.

There's clear interest and promised intent:

- Puffk (*puffen - delegate from Europe (??))
- wangboBW (*skinnyasiankid - Mandarin-powered Scandinavian representative)
- Profound (*? SP and Aussiestyle lead)

- xXxfunbobxXx (*funbob66 - of the computer-stealing(?) grounded-sister delegation)

I strongly suggest replicating the team setup I outlined in my first post; I don't think there's a better group composition out there. Each character is super useful and contributes to the team, requires a skilled player behind it, and a leader to pull everything together.

So... to sum up the situation... Myk will not be in the ladder running team. He will not get to play a totally awesome day of video games.
His characters will never get a chance to get anywhere near anywhere on the new ladder, if even he gets a chance to play.

The build for the SF/Chantress that I'm planning on using is:

10 Static, covers same radius as lvl 20 CE so should be enough with +skills
20 Chant Obviously
20 Warmth
20 Fire Mastery
1 Firebolt (prereq)
1 Fireball (prereq)
1 Frost Nova for Normal

Then the remaining points will either be in Firewall which will give like 4k dmg per second or perhaps into Frozen Orb with a lvl 1 Cold Mastery.

It's a build that is designed to work within the confines of our team. I'll be putting out 1266 fire dmg via chant assuming a +3 Chant leaf staff and the +1 from Battle Command. Multiply this by 8 mercs, valk, shadow, golem, revives, skeletons and I'll be putting out more damage per second than anyone else in the group not to mention the Zealer/Frenziers damage and the ever present Conviction and Lower Resistances.

With our conviction and Lower Resist, you can get away with only 1 pt Cold Mastery which means at lvl 87 I'd have maxed Orb for 300 damage per bolt and some safety.

I think I covered all of it.

Imo I still think that espec for the ladder rush team firewall would benefit the team much more. 25 FW and 25 FM puts out 5.2k damage per second w/o -%res. And im sure it would be easier to get more than +5 to fire skills. The cold is great but we're going to have an orb/blizz sorc. Get a holy freeze merc for the safety and freezing effect and cast a firewall from afar on the frontlines of the skellys battle.

I don't think two hours is possible. Getting through Baal in under 3 hours is really pushing it. My group (FtW) has dominated the ladder runs for the last few resets and last summer it took us almost 3.5 hours to get through Normal Baal (after which we ran him for exp for about 30 more minutes). If you can shave 1.5 hours off of our run, then I'll be AMAZED. I honestly don't see how the run could have been much more efficient than we were (with the obvious exception of maphack, which we don't use).

I think it's totally possible with some good map rolls + concentration + speed skills. The CTA group so far has two of those attributes from a few people.

It's a sort of HC forum elitism, I suppose. I just think it'd be interesting to game with someone whose posts you've read since oh, +-1999.

I'd recommend Frenzy, DS or WW just for the application of fire damage, but that's not so significant in comparison to the presence of Battle Orders.

It's a damn shame, I had done a lot of preparing for this, but health comes first. I already messaged puff yesterday since he was the BO barb on the secondary team. I said he could be my reserve, but it's up to you guys of course. Just thought I'd let you know that he was the first technically.

If however, you can't make it we'll probably pick up Mouse as a replacement. We've known him for ages and this way both teams still get to keep their BO.

Definitely do stay in contact if you can't make the run, more gamers are always welcome. Hopefully we'll see you on Tuesday, but if it can't be - take care of yourself - Shaharris tends to get bored easily and make these runs every so often (even without a reset) and we're always doing new untwinked chars. Might not be the same as seeing yourself and your team top of the ladder, but it'll do in a pinch.
