Ok, so guys and gals, I'm changing course of this thread to creating a big pool of ETF-ers instead of asking for 7 more people to create a team.

I asked for editing this first post instead of creating a new thread since there's already some discussion and sign ups in it. I hope it won't cause too much confusion.

So, basically sign up in here if you want to join. The bigger the pool, the easier it is to get full party games with trusted (well most of us really) members only. Plus ofcourse the mighty fun we'll have since I'll be in-game.

Ofcourse I favour some over others too, since I've played more with them before. That problem is also solved with this setup. I hope to keep this thread up the first page here.

Now the last few things that need to be cleared up is the exact reset time (i.e. the earliest time we can start playing) and which teams there will be. That's best done a few hours before the reset is fully over. That would be somewhere on monday early in the night I think.

Just think of this as a chance to get on top of the new ladder and making some friends in the progress ofcourse.
You can also think of this as a road trip with multiple cars to a beer-loaded destination (far far away though), where the walkietalkies will be replaced by this thread. We can update progress here.

Also since the regular channel will be flooded with people we'll probably interfere with other regulars there. Therefore we'll meet in channel "op ladder group 5" whenever Europe is back online. We'd better sort the party on availability. I know I won't be available for long right after the reset. If there's people who can play on for hours after the server's back up, than those should team up as they can hit the ladder the highest.

And everybody needs to be sure that IF they hit the ladder (if only briefly) they should mention their character name. That way we can be the proud watchers of ETF.

I've just been looking at the low-end runewords trying to figure the best setups. Last ladder reset when I made it to Hell I stoped leveling for a while to run NM countess get Amns and Sols for the low end runewords. Also some NM cows for socketables. I don't know if other people want to do this or just level hard but I was thinking if each party stopped and split up to run NM countess we would have a good supply of low runes for the cheap runewords in no time.

With low-end runewords the game is pretty much beatable and a lot easier then without, especially casters with dual Spirits come to mind.

Better setups -> faster levelling = good idea Minus :)

If you want to be steady up in the long run, Countess runs are very well possible and you're free to see if anybody from the group wants to join a team. But it'll take at least a couple of hours before any of us reaches hell anyway.

I find NM countess runs are quickest just using a light sorc. Also, I'm pretty sure that the special rune drop isn't affected by the number of players in the game. Perhaps we could have light sorcs countesss running and everyone else cow/pit running for socketables?

That's up to the party concerned. I want to go as fast as possible. Any lack of levels/stats when going to higher area's should be compensated for the variety of characters we have in-game.

There's nothing wrong with opening the channel already, though I doubt you'll find anyone else already. Discussion can take place at any time in this thread if you want. But since your point is valid, let's say we all take a peek there every now and then as of Sunday morning (GMT). I think most ETF-ers will be available then and maybe even playing. Also then we're only a day and a half away of the reset.

I'll update the list with an edit. Teams will be formed throughout all Monday.

We should probably have some kind of thread or something where people can list common items that they really need (like razortail, 2-socket +3 fireball staff, +2 skill circlets/amulets etc etc), that way if your class depends on something that is actually easy to find yet isn't dropping for you, another person that finds it will not ditch it and actually keep it for you.

Should also make a list of stuff people usually don't keep which they actually should be keeping, such as:
2 socket helms
2 socket staves with good fire staffmods
4 socket staves/scepters with any good staffmods
3 socket light/elite monarchs
any normal set/unique items with +skills
wizendraw
sigon set (especially gloves for the IAS)
chipped/flawed/normal gems for rune upgrades
And many more I didn't think of...

Also if you're not picking up every rare item that drops starting of late nightmare, you should probably start now, as you/we wouldn't want to miss it if it turns out to be that >300% ED rare weapon with possibly other good stats. Even if it's not elite it can be upgraded.

Try to avoid builds that rely on weapon damage or other hard-to-get items. Avoid single-tree builds unless they're very powerful and you're willing to not be able to do much without a group. Avoid wasting corpses as a way of play, meaning pure cold builds are going to not work well with a necro around (however cold builds do have advantages on baal, pindle and ancient tunnels runs).

Try to avoid builds that rely on weapon damage or other hard-to-get items. Avoid single-tree builds unless they're very powerful and you're willing to not be able to do much without a group. Avoid wasting corpses as a way of play, meaning pure cold builds are going to not work well with a necro around (however cold builds do have advantages on baal, pindle and ancient tunnels runs).

I suppose you can see though I'm not exactly an active trader ;) last time I played online was the early first ladder season. Recently came back but only on SP due to massive duping online making the game too easy. Hoping for the ladder to bring some challenge/competition in, at least in the early stages before the massive duping/hacking kicks in.

IMO the best idea would be to meet in the channel when you can log in and go from there... Pre-arranging teams will most likely not work in most cases.

No, my plan was to team up together the people who want to hit the ladder the first and the longest. They'll be in the same act/difficulty for while then. Ofcourse whenever you drop out of a group due to RL stuff you meet back in channel and see which people can accompany you to re-enter the ladder.

I think at the moment there are two kinds of people signed up for this thread, the ones who plan to have organised teams and the ones who want a channel with everyone just creating random games.

I think it needs to be organised teams, otherwise we will level slow and the disorgaised way is just the same as pub games on bnet.

I think we need to find out availability and builds as soon as possible and start making teams. Also think each team should have its own channel and not just one for everyone.

Maybe separate channels is an option ofcourse. You could give your group an awesome name and channel them, but as soon as you drop out of a team that advances while you're away you're screwed. This thread is meant to compensate for that since you're bound to find a fellow person who dropped out. I'm still holding 'op ladder group 5' as the main channel to gather people in, but it's unlikely 2 teams will hit Hell Baal around the same time.

Minus is right on separating on availability, but I already mentioned that. Maybe I'll incorporate this in a new update on the sign ups. This will happen in the next post.

Still, I hope you read the policy of using this forum. We do not use nor condone third party programs nor hacks here. Meaning if you got hacked (which generally happens when using a 3pp) and are using 3pp again, I'm going to have to exclude you from the group.

As I certainly won't be the one hitting the ladder I'm still unsure about the purpose of this thread in the long run. My guess it dies out after a week or so when everybody has his first Hell viable char up and running with basic gear. After that there's plenty of games on Bnet as well (assuming there's no (dupe) patch or anything). Would be cool if this thread stayed up for longer though.

Some people seem to be looking abit indepth at this thread, I see it as from the word go we will be shuffled into helpful teams that will compliment each player well. After a couple days theres going to be different levels different acts with everyone. So by staying on our channel you could ask for help or start a baal run party or cow run party for everyone to improve and gain better items. That is the main aspects of it till as CC said have a sufficiant enough character that can run around on its own and MF on its own.

Well, everyone wants to have the teleport skill for mfing... If we all use mercs, we should be alright for tanks. Also note that summons (esp. from summon necros) can provide a lot of meat as well. Not to mention that in an 8 player game, it's typically much easier to survive. And yes, I'm pretty excited:alright:

Finally got to NM Baal :)

Anyone want to do some NM Baal runs? All the public games seem to just involve everyone asking the sorcs to tele, the sorcs complaining they are too weak to tele, everyone leaving the game :bored:

I'm not online right now but I will be soon now doubt. Also I'd like to add the disclaimer that my Barb isn't very good at killing things just yet, but if you'd still like to run let me know!

I suggest we go to the usual channel now being 'public chat etf' that's where the regulars hang out. The group is so much thinned out that it's near impossible to group without using this thread.

I'm in a fix though, I have a Skullder's and a Hel, but I don't have any socket quest anymore. Anybody wants to use his to socket mine (for a price?)

Since I see a lot of beautifull mess here, I'll do my best to continue the well-established course: I currently have lvl78 cl/fo sorc with obnoxious gear mode on, so if any of you want some normal/nm rush (for free ofc:girly: ) just whisp *spoofy and I may be there to help you. Anyway, it will be good idea to make ball running team, but I'm too weak to start new thread and host such runs - anyway, I'd gladly join some etfbaals for sure...
