in 7 short days they become totally useless.

I'll still play. Might try to suicide or some such. I was wondering though, how many people here play non-ladder. If there are some, I'd be happy to donate to them.

I think they should become victims of neglect, Dave.

There is no sense in deleting the characters as it would just equate to more lost time. Is this something that will be continued in the new ladder season (even if you're not around)? I'm pretty sure, now, that it wasn't worth most of the time we spent.

Anyway, best of luck finding that job. I wish RL had ladder resets.

I second the neglect part. In the end, it seems it kinda became a mule account for me, you, and myk if we couldn't find like say a Bloodfist or Ribby. After a while, people stopped donating, or asking, and it became not worth the time to MF, sort, mule, etc.

Besides, only a few things were worth while to keep. I'd rather have a pair of Titans on a naked Java, then a Peasent, Bloodfists, Twitch, etc with a bad Javalin.

I tossed a lot of stuff on those mules... took a few things, too. I was glad they were there. Got a Lightsabre that I was truely grateful for :) In fact my Uber killer Barb still uses it. :)

'twas a noble idea... but having looked back I can understand it being more bother than it was worth. Looking at my own bazillion mules of stuff that will in the end do nothing more than have been looked at a couple of times while I go "hey that's a pretty cool whatchamacallit..." But I did get a tiny little thrill finding each and every never-to-be-used item I stored away.

I have mixed emotions thinking of the ladder reset, and how I collected so much stuff this time that I never used, and how this time playing I said to myself I wasn't going to do that again the way I did when I was playing 4 yrs ago (mules and mules and mules of stuff expired never used)... but I think I actually ended up with more stuff this time than last time mainly due to so much boss glitching. But anyway back to my mixed emotions... I sort of think when the ladder is reset I wonder what's the point of going through this great big junk collecting exercise again... I know that's what will happen... but you know what? I'll forget all about that the first time I'm running a brand new ladder character through Act I and I can't wait to get to that "next" little goal... and on with the junk collecting!

I always got a kick out of outfitting people's characters.

Sometimes, tremendously fancy; I used to dump SO MUCH EQUIPMENT on people (oldschoolers, I hope you remember :P ) -- crazy runewords and 'leet' itams I'd never end up using (Mara's Kaleidescope, anyone?)... but the best would be giving someone something that wasn't "popular" (i.e. Harlequin's Crest), but super-useful, i.e.:

- a 5%LL 100AR ring to some melee character
- r/w 20+ tri-resist boots to anyone
- rares, etc.

That always made me feel great.
