KTA - EuHCL Untwinked Adventures Discussion/Recruitment Thread

Hey all,

The current session of KTA has ground to a halt unexpectantly so I am creating this new thread for discussion of a next possible theme for the run and to see who will be interested in joining in and injecting some new blood into our adventures as some of our current members are in need of attending to real life issues...me included, but i'm done now! :grin:

Now, just to clarify for new faces, these are 'Da Roolz' (cut n pasted from Tika and tweaked a little by me!)

1) We play every Monday, from around 7:00pm (1900) to 9:00-9:30pm (2100-2130) UK Time, most European players should add one hour onto that for time difference...

2) We play untwinked, (mostly) full clears with all quests completed in each act. (Note: If we feel we need some key items for a certain build and the limited amount of boss-killing/mf-ing we do yields nothing, then we could see some exceptions later on in Hell when it is becoming impossible to fuction as part of the team e.g a WW Barb using a 1-15 Crystal Sword in Hell would be a candidate for a sword muled in from outside of KTA!)
Items are to be shared equally and given according to needs of the current party builds etc; if a charm drops, take it by all means, but if you find a 6% Fire Res charm and yours is already in the 50's and you are a caster, check to make sure someone else (like a melee-er) isn't in the 20's etc...it's all amicable play, with the idea in mind of being a strong party!

3) If you decide to join our merry band, please make sure you are there as often as possible...its rather a bad thing to have a group of 6 in theory, and end up playing with half that all the time but absence is usually posted in the thread beforehand with reason so it's never a problem but excuses of "I could not be bothered" don't cut it...commit people!

4) We meet in channel KTA before each session to discuss, mule off items before playtime commences etc and if the channel is empty, you are late and we are in-game already! The game name and password is given in-channel so please arrive promptly

5) Most of all, we respect each other and have FUN. We are out to kick the minions of Hell in a challenging way, why not do it as a group of mates eh?!

Right, now thats over with, please post your forum name, account name if you are interested and possible build ideas...now, this is the fun part, deciding what to do...there was talk of an all-Paladin team before, which is open to discussion, or just picking a build and running with it as it will be a fresh party with fresh faces we need to see how we work together...anyhoo...one last rule...members of the old run get priority placement on the new run but there will be many spaces left, as well as reserve spaces, so join up today!

2: I do not think it should be allowed to mule stuff outside of KTA, no matter what weapon you use, then It'd be better if we could make some arranged MF runs or something.

3: I said pala's was ***, but I do like rangers and zealots though!

OK dude, good to know, as this idea was a little 50/50 with the current members as well...I think to get the ball rolling we should just try a well-rounded party theme...nothing cookie-cutter, if it can be helped, but i'm open to anything...I think I would do another Boner Necro if we are going open-theme...


Some things in my mind:

Only at the start when we are fresh and nooby...towards the end of Hell we tend to clear what we can be bothered to clear...as it's much harder by then with untwinked gear...it's 50/50...

Again, this kind of thing is done as well, we do arrange to run bosses and see what we get...outside items are only brought in on extreme occasions...

Sorry Mr.Kaxe, but i'm out :/

i'm not so good at scheduling myself to D2, i just play when i can. but i'll offer my 2 cents anyway.

a full team needs to comprise of chars that protect the others weaknesses, and obviously help those around you.

A fire golem necro teamed with a fire sorc makes a great tanker, as the sorc can heal the golem. same applies with a pala, your aura's are key, so make sure you have a def aura pala (maybe with salvation) and an offensive aura pala.

A barb always makes a good tank, and BO will be invaluable to others. try and avoid focussing on any poison skills, as with 6+ players in the game, the poison effect will become almost negligible, except if you have lower resist somewhere.

also get contrasting mercs, for example, Holy freeze merc, might merc, blessed aim, are all really helpful. no point having 2 mercs of the same type.

also be careful if you have a druid with the life spirit. without it being on your char, you may not notice its about to die, and if it does, you could be near death yourself.

if tankers need to break and run, they should msg and say so, else it leaves the rangers and casters vulnerable.

I'd be more than happy to tag along when i'm on, but i cant guarentee when i will be on, so i certainly cant be a regular.

Thanks for posting all of that, very helpful for the newcomers to give them an idea of what to expect when we build a rounded party, but this has been going for years dude and I need fresh blood as the regulars are dropping like flies!

If anybody comes up with a brilliant theme I'd be willing to switch, but for the time being this will do for me.

Oh man havn't been online for some time. Had graduation two weeks ago followed by vacation. Started working on the new strafer two days ago and got her to 24 but when i logged in the next day i read about the ladder reset so those hours with the ama was prob the last ones in this ladder. Looking forward for some fun in the next one and maybe we could set up a team.
Might give away items aswell.

Oh yes dude, I was gonna start with a cheezydin(hammer) I expect, as I didn't get to make mine this ladder season at all! Tom is probably gonna do the same, meaning I might switch to old reliable (Meteorb) or be the BO *****, depending on what we need...
I expect to team up with you as well as Tom and we can rinse the new ladder as last time I was in the middle of a 2-week holiday and missed the start...well, the start is 8pm Tuesday so I will miss that as well 'coz that's my DnD night but oh well!

Hello all. I'll have to miss the start of the new team. My hard work has paid off and my company has allowed me to book two weeks holiday. Boy, do I need it.

Me and Mrs Turps are going to an island off Mexico for some R'n'R and more importantly no computers. July 7th will be the next time I will be available. I'm going to take some diving lessons for the first time in my mis-spent life!

I am rather excited about the prospect of a new team so I may just level up a dude when I am back and get involved with the new team later on.

Spent some time online yesterday - most of my dudes are dead, took on infinity light soso's with Lvl 18-70 chars - most naked - my ES soso in the 50's did not get 1 shotted - quite proud!

I did do some butt kicking with my Lvl 88 LF zon - took a few ears - 88 LF zon (mirror battle) 86 Barb and 91 druid.

Will be on tonight for some finally killing of my Dudes - was hard to see all those items die, If your on Kaxe I can wipe out that little bone mancer of yours :P

I'll see what the regulars say but it's not a bad idea, as 'turps will have less to catch up on that way and what with the ladder restart, i'm sure we all wanna clock some time right? (Monday is the only day I can play these days...I see myself going far on this ladder...hmmm, I should wrap up this tangent before I start to ramble... :scratchhead:)

You can go solid fire dude, as the party will have your back for the other elements...such is the case with KTA...

The Sig is a PAL perk...you want it? Start paying! :grin:

OT: I had SOOOOO much fun last night PvP-ing all my chars before the reset tonight...my Bonemancer held up very very well...mostly due to being cheezy and standing around with my finger on Shift and spamming my 2.7k Bone Spirit!(one skiller, torch, no Boneshade)

Funniest moment for me had to be when Ivan was hadning me my arse with his IK Barb, I lost at least 5 chars in a row, then I used my full Tal's Meteorb with a die facet in the Orb...as he handed me my *** the Blizzard kicked in and wiped out his last bit of life!

I was in stitches the whole way through...I will be making proper PvP chars to play with Ivan and Tom on this ladder that's for sure!

Well I am nearly Lvl 26 now on the new ladder - left it to go to bed ready for work tomorrow. Was 6th on the ladder when I left - not that I will be there tomorrow mind!

I have taken my necro (fishy build) to the start of Act 5...........

I got on after my DnD session (big end boss fight...I disgracefully didn't hit him once :ashamed:) and booted up Librasulus (he stayed clvl 1 all last season), my Hammerdin, even though i'd rather start with a Sorc for MF and managed to get to lvl 15! L337!!

Best find so far is a 9 to life 13% cold res gc...

I'm glad the talk floating around about a no-CD patch turned out to be true, I implemented that immediately!

EDIT: Shame they did it a bit too late for me; my disk, which is 6+ years old, cracked to the point of no-run (was cracked 4 years in, ran strong!) and I bought a new one not so long ago...oh well!

I think I'll switch my build to Conviction/Avenger pally and pimp that elemental damage a bit. Reading the guids I serisouly doubt I'll be able to create a frostmaiden that packs at least SOME punch in an untwinked run.

Thanks for posting Grimey and BoD Trader, I think the best thing to do is turn up tonight in channel and discuss what to do from there...there are still holes to fill, especially with character dynamics in a party, which have to be ironed out, so lets meet in channel KTA at 7:00pm UK time and get an idea!

If 'turps was to create his Singer, we would have BO, so that's covered but the one element we don't have now is cold...so I think I might change my character to a Blizzard Sorc...we need to figure out who's playing what really and make sure all elements are covered!
