It's a decent skill with a range 5 wep.

My bezerker barb has maxed leap attack, it's was the best use of 20 points for a physical damage attack for magic immunes and for leaching.

alt is your friend. I really like leap attack as a skill, its decent lld too.

I currently have a Dragoon build that uses the following stats:

Max - Leap
Max - Leap Attack
Max - Polearm Specialization

With the extra skills, I pumped them into battle orders.

I an level 71 right now, and here is my gear at the moment. I was lucky to get a free Enigma, and found the rest of my gear in Normal Baal runs.

Weapon

Pierre Tombale Couant (Ethereal, socketed with zod)

Armor

Mage Plate Enigma (was free... or else it would be Sacred Armor)

Helm

Peasant Crown (Working on getting Arreat's Face)

Boots

Tearhaunch (Until I can get Gorerunner)



Thats basically my gear. The rest are crappy Uncs and Rares. I currently have +7 to all barb skills, and my leap attack deals slightly under 10k damage, with a 95% chance to hit all non-boss mobs in Hell. If I Crit or land a Deadly Strike, I usually one hit mobs.

It's a fairly fun skill, and with Maximized leap, crowds are no problem. Simply jump in the middle of them, and it knocks them to the edges of your screen, allowing you to focus leap attack on a single mob. It has been one of my favorite off-beat builds since my whirlwind Sorc.

The weapon dropped off a normal Baal run when a MF sorc was running it. Used the socket quest to give it a socket, and traded for a zod. :alright:

You really shouldn't. It is not :alright:. Don't. No. D'oh! :jig: :jig:
Oh well... Whatever floats your boat I guess. But for the price of that Zod, you could have bought something better... If you'd have saved some more, maybe even an eth Tomb Reaver.

As for the question, I've never used Leap Attack but Leap at least is nice for jumping over bridges etc. I've heard of a bug with both Leap skills though: if you get hit in mid-air, you cannot attack again (with any attack iirc) unless you rejoin the game. Solution? One of three. 1. Don't play Leap Barb, 2. don't get hit in mid-air, 3. rejoin game if hit. ...4 maybe, pray there is a patch with the Reset and they fix it... There you go.

The "leap bug people speak of us" is greatly exaggerated and not a viable reason to not play a leaper if you want to. It rarely happens, far less then the "charge" bug pallies have, and a quick re-join fixes it.

When you are within your choosen wep's range to target, instead of leaping to attack you just wack at them like a normal attack, however you still seem to get all the damage and Ar goodness from the leap skill. So basically what your left with is a physical attack that hits damage number's comparable to a fully syngised Bezerk or a pallies charge at what looks like a 9fpa cap. The barb has no other physical damage skill that packs a punch like this. apprx 1000% ed physical and around 400% ar with some of the standard barb gear.



My barb was built like

20 bezerk
20 howl
20 shout
20 leap attack
one in all warcries
couple in my mastery (spear , used ebotd ghost spear)
rest in leap.

one point Bo with pre-bluff gear is more then adequate for pvm, My guy was on hc no less. That one point after prebluff is around a level 17-23 bo easy. If that's not enough for you then save and exit.

I recently made a Leap/WW barb with IK armor.

Skills:
20 WW
20 Leap Attack
20 Leap
20 BO
rest prereqs and mace mastery.

Equipment: Full IK set, highlords and 2 Ravens, Barb Torch.
No merc (he keeps trailing behind anyway)

I quite liked playing this character, especially in large parties because it alllowed me to leap on monsters while they were held in place by other characters. I used Leap now and then but much prefer War Cry.

I wasn't bothered by the bug at all.

Ed, I was planning a build like yours, except for 20BO. Jump into the mob, whrilwind´em. Lemme ask something.

1-) What about physical immunes? No points in Berserk?
2-) Leap Attack throws enemies away, but it damages all of them or just the one you pointed?
3-) Never had mana problems?
4-) What´s the best weapon for Leap Attack and Whrilwind? I guess you didn´t use enything else, right?
