So I'm building a nova sorc wearing infi. And in the guide I read it said that you need 1 point in chilling armor. Now I've heard that this armor is bugged, so you can avoid ranged attacks sometimes. Is this true?
And isn't it better to put 1 point in frozen armor? This way you don't need to spend 5 points for an armor.
This is for pvp btw:)

You can find chilling armor on items such as an orb, or on the unique belt Snowclash, if you do not want to spend the points. I'd reccomend getting it for pvp as it is great vs certain characters (ie bowazons.)
ThatWasShockin submitted this video in a thread discussing chilling armor to demonstrate the effects it can have. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1V7tSDMm3tQ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1V7tSDMm3tQ) (http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=635436&highlight=chilling+effect)
This is a link to a thread by Sirpoopsalot that also explains all about it.

The bug is untrue, it has been proven that it does not block attacks.
As for the usefullness of such an armor... I doubt. Most characters pack some or another form of CBF, especially the ones that depend on run/attack speed (non-casters). Cold armors provide very minor defense boost (which is even less for you, since no shield), very tiny damage return and a chilling/freezing effect (useless in pvp).

Interesting, I haven't read anything disproving it, I'll have to search around the forums some more to find the thread that you may be referring to.
edit: haven't been able to find anything more on it, thank you for correcting me if it in fact has been disproven, I'm too tired to continue searching tonight.

Alright, thanks a lot for all the info.
I'm gonna go with 1point in frozen armor then:)

IMO, a sorc doesn't have enough defense on her for frozen armor to be worth anything.
I still am a firm believer in the myth, as well as the shiver armor melee attack one. The best way to get these skills is through a staff with +1-3 chilling, +1-3 shiver, and like, 3 es. Have it be 5 socket, and make a cta out of it.
Best thing you can do.

Read the thread to which I provided a link. Extensive testing has shown the myth to be completely false. It's like saying Meteor or Ondal's steals XP. Or that Griffon's adds damage to traps (although this is a display bug, not exactly a myth).

I also believe it to be completly false, because of this:
when I had a pvp ama, I could shoot an arrow witch triggered the returning ice spike of shiver armor of sorcs but dind't actually hit.
I found out about this by accident. But here's how it works:
-Find a game were you have a wooden wall instead of a bridge in Act1
-Find a sorc whith shiver armor and hostile her.
-Now let the sorc stand pretty close to the wall, but not to close.
-Fire guided arrows on the wall near the sorc, make sure you point your mouse inside the rouge camp.
This way your guided arrow hits the wall and dissapears. But somehow the guided animation is still trigered, so the arrow will hit the sorc after it has hit the wall.
Becouse the gouded animation still works, the shiver animation is also trigered.
you don't actually recieve damage from shiver, but it will look like it shoots, and negates all damage.
I hope this makes sence, don't know a better way to explain it:)
