sigh... stuck at checking versions.

So, d2 is now always getting stuck at checking versions, i cant log onto bnet at all. I have tried the following:
Re-installing the game
Downloading the patch off the web
Checked that my firewall isnt blocking it, turned firewall off

It seemed to have done this spontaneously and I am at a loss as to what to do.
Is there anything else I can try?

Oh and for about 4 months I couldn't get onto diabloii.net (all other websites still worked) but the problem fixed itself. :)

hmm do you have a wireless connection or a router between your computer and the modem? Try connecting without a router.

i had a similar problem to you, and it was caused by my router, it was a netgear that automatically had port triggering for port 6112
