ES on a 200 fcr Fireballer

First off, this is meant for pvp:

Should I build a 200 fcr ES sorc, or a vita one? ES seems to give it the survivability it's lacking, although this type of sorc should not be getting hit all that much to begin with. What are the pros and cons of each?

Secondly, with a 200 fcr ES build, can I just switch out gear to turn it into a 105 FCR ES sorc? Do I lose anything besides FCR by doing this or is the transition seamless?

Can't comment on the ES versus vita one, but I don't think you can switch out gear to become a good 105 FCR sorc. 105 FCR sorc's usually have shield block, which is something that 200 FCR sorcs sacrifice to get the fastest cast possible. You'd be better off staying at 200 FCR IMO.

with my set up i only lose 3 skills compared to 105 so differance shouldnt be much

only 1 skill is lost if they use stormshield (or non skill blocking shield)

200fcr vit sorks are doing well to hit 20k damage FB's. 200fcr/es models top out at around 16-17k depending on gear.

105 sorks can crack 25k.

my $0.02: unless you have some nice fire/lifer gc's and are prepared to prebuff your ES, stick to a vit sork.

Agree. ES sucks on a fire sorc, prebuffing is just lame IMO.

where does all the extra damage come from for 105fcr, with my 200fcr set up i lose 1 on armour, 2 from rings and a possible 1 from ammy (if they have 3 fire ammy), or is the extra damage from using stuff with +%to fire and facets as well?

there you go. each +skill extra on my sork (as an example) adds ~1400 damage, extra +4 skills = 5600 extra. if they use an FB ormus, thats another +6..... from memory, FB tops out at ~32k'ish damage (4facet shield, 2xfacet +6fb/+6firemastery magic orb, facet ormus, +3helm/ammy etc, etc, etc). someone over at the amazon basin did a nice thread on the theoretical max damages of various spells.

facets are only a very marginal damage boost on a fire sork. unless you can start to seriously cut someones resists (and their stack) down, they just aren't really a good use of a socket. you'd need three or four of them at least to even begin to cut into the resists of any well prepared dueller. theres a lot of things you can get from a socky, i'd just rather people not be able to throw on a pair of spurs and counter all my sockys

How about someone with a 105%FCR Fire Sorc puts up their gear and we can compare damage/life/mana/ES level/etc.

how much damage does a 4 facet shield add, wouldnt you get more damage from spirit? and dam 1400 from 1 skill i got to get me some skillers
