Barb Tossers

Working on a throw Barb atm, leveled him up to 31 so far. This is my 2nd throw Barb (previous one long time ago, pre-synergies). I remember them being a pretty fun build but one thing I didn't remember was the lack of decent throw weapons until you get up enough to use deathbit. I've been using the same two rare Balanced Axes (lvl req 10 & 12) since I started throwing. Haven't found anything better, haven't been able to gamble anything better. Currently glitching normal Baal. I have all kinds of cool high level stuff waiting for him (Lacerators, Warshrikes, Gimmershreds, Demon's Arch, etc...) but I'm starting to get to the point where I'm getting desperate for something better. I'm proabably going to have to twink a bunch of gold to him and just gamble his butt off. I've made a point for quite a while now of saving low to mid level throw stuff because I knew I'd build one of these eventually, but my luck just hasn't been good getting something nice in the lvl 25-35 range. Everything has either been really low level or higher level (too close to Deathbit to want to keep).

Already sort of screwed up the build (a little) tho because without thinking I tossed a few points into double throw thinking it increased damage %, when all it does is increase AR%. Really one point in double throw is enough until the very end of the build. This is one of those rare cases where it's best to pump mastery right from the beginning, and actually better to pump the synergy (double swing) first as well (after maxing Throw Mastery).

But even with a couple of fairly crappy lvl 10 & 12 throw weaps he kills pretty darn good, and is a lot of fun to play (except the constant repairing, but you get used to that). I've got a decent weapon/shield on switch and a point in Conc which works pretty well also when I get the overwhelming urge to run up and smack something up side the head. :badteeth:

a friend of mine used to have a throw barb in .09 and i recall he used cruel throwing weapons. . .

I can relate man! Luckily, I found some neat rare throwing axes and knives on my travels with other characters so by the time I decided to make a Thrower (last season that is) I had an arsenal waiting for me!

The Scalper and Deathbit are pretty poo weapons in my opinion...I mean sure, they are not bad, but the shortage of low-mid throwing weapons is a joke!

At high level, it's like a relief to start using kick-*** weapons and kill things in less hits resulting in far less frequent repairs (which has got to be the most annoying thing ever!) and enjoying bigger stacks!

(BTW dude, if you were on Eu, i'd gladly give you my 2 x Scalper's spare as i'm not building my Thrower yet although all this talk...)

You're basically left with deathbits/glimmershreds as leveling tools unless you can find a juicy set of harpoons with self repair

Yeah, razor tail will definitely be used once I move past normal ball and on to nightmare. Right now I have more of a MF setup to glitch baal with.

I was making a thrower once (he's still kicking around somewhere). There was some question as to whether the AR bonus from Double Throw actually works due to a ranged AR glitch. Does anyone know anything about this?

Iv'e got 2 scalpers muled that I never got around to putting back on the banana mules that I used when I was building my thrower . Your welcome to them , just message me when ya see me online sometime this weekend or whenever ..

Just a little update... just about to hit lvl 75 when I can equip a torch... been using a pair of glimmershred's, and just tearing up Hell Act I & beginning of Act II. These things do enough elemental damage that PI's are no problem at all. Helped by the fact that I'm using Atma's ammy. Lionheart armor, Steelskull with ptopaz, dual nagelrings, dual ali-baba's on switch for killing blow, Razortail belt, waterwalk boots, blood gloves (10%ias, 3%LL, 15%mf). Once I equip the torch I'm going to try Warshrikes but so far these Glimmers are really killing very efficiently...
