how to improve this mf build

Orb/Firewall MF Sorc

My MF is right around 300 which I am happy with (I really don't need that much higher); however, resistances are weak and cast rate are fairly slow. If anyone has any tips on how to improve these categories please drop a note.

Here is the current setup (note: skill allocation is incomplete, only level 82 right now and still have not completed all quests which give skills... also, all of these skills are about 16 levels higher due to gear and items):

War Traveller Boots (47 MF)
Frostburns
Bul Kathos
Nagelring Ring (Perfect 30 MF)
Mara's (26 Resistances)

7 7 MF small charms (one of which adds +5 to res)

With all this, my resistances are as follows:
Fire-30
Cold-35
Light-74
Poison-36



What can I do to improve upon these resistances? This may be a dumb question, but are there any +res and +fcr gloves? Frostburns can definitely be replaced.

Also, would it be smarter to kill this entire build and replace firewall with nova? I don't like that both firewall and orb are delayed, and it is tough to aim fire wall.

Yes. Trang gloves have 20 fcr and 30 cold res.

Maybe try cookie-cutter Meteorb with Tal Set? Even with your current build Tal Set would still be a very nice option.

Also, Orb is often a backup skill, so don't max the synergy (no point at all in Cold Mastery is surprising as well) if you need the points somewhere else (you could've maxed Hydra... 3 skills on timer are better than 2).

Thanks for the reply. My mistake... Cold Mastery is somewhere between 10-15 at the moment.

As I said, Tal's Set is more than decent for a 2-tree sorc. You'll have decent resists with it.

If you insist on not using it, consider Wizzy (much less dmg) or Sanctuary shield.

Again, having Orb as main attack for a fire-cold sorc is not the way to go if MFing efficiency is your concern. You don't need godly war gear such as Fathom to make, say, a strong Fireball and that gives you much more flexibility (resist and MF wise) in your gear. If you just love the skill and must use it as main attack, sure, go ahead.

I think the best thing to do is get a tals plate and swap maras for tal ammy if possible. that will also boost your fcr if needed.

you want at least 63% fcr imo and then next bp after that is 105. from my own experience I can tell you that i prefer the speed of 105 but 63 is sufficient.

You might also want to optimize your hit recovery. ( http://strategy.diabloii.net/news.php?id=551 ) most of it is coming from the spirit of course but just one charm will get you to 60% which is 8 frames

I have both Tal's ammy and armor, so I think I will go with what the both of you have suggested. I'm also thinking of replacing firewall, it is just too annoying to aim at a moving enemy and I hate two timed attacks

Already do, have a merc with Doom Cryptic Axe
