View Full Version : Is a liberator basically a hammerdin with grief.

[Note: this is purely for PvP considerations]

I was comparing the skill points of the libby I was planning on building with the skill points of my cookiecutter hammerdin. I noticed only 1 or 2 skill differences... Libby has either resist lightning/defiance or extra points in charge rather than holyshield.

Do the resist lightning/charge points make any difference? Or can I just tweak my hammerdin gear thereby making him an effective liberator?

It seems he's only short a Grief PB.

Currently lvl 93 with these Skills:
1 Charge
1 Smite
1 Holy Bolt
20 Blessed Hammer
17 Holy Shield

1 Prayer
1 Cleansing
1 Defiance
20 Vigor

1 Might
20 Blessed Aim
20 Concentration

Using this set of gear:

BerBer CoA
10% FCR amulet
Enigma
Trang's Gloves
Verdungo's
WizSpike
'Spirit' Sacred Targe 35% FCR
10% FCR Ring
Bul Kathos Ring
Waterwalk Boots

So would simply switching these gears suffice?
Highlords Amulet
Grief PB
Raven Frost
Spider
Rare Boots

Concerning your cookie-cutter hammerdin gear...

Why not Arach's instead of dungo's? It'd save 1 ring + ammy spot for better stuff...

I figure the DR is more important than an extra bit of hammer damage.

Dungo also offers nice life, and the FCR ring has massive strength that helps me use CoA.

I always thought along the same lines. More points into charge = more charge obviously, but I always took charge as a 1 point wonder with Grief and I really didn't like the idea of maxing it.

Even on my smiter (i.e. no maxed vigor as synergy), charge is a very strong pvp skill. I think your skill points are better spent on hammers and holy shield.

Yep, charge + grief works really well versus any non-melee character.

So instead of remaking a "liberator" i should just get myself a good grief pb and play my hammerdin the same way as a liberator?

Any "pvm" hdin will work in pvp because that's how imbalanced they are :P

But you pumped holy shield. Most, the defensive types, will pump light resist.
You also need 1 point fanat for that smite when the charge is blocked and you'll be randomly whacking.

Btw, there are people that prefer to pump charge as crit from highlords and grief+pumped charge = potential 1-2 hit killer to a caster.

I just don't like that pumped holy shield.

I find holy shield really good for reaching 15k def though.

hm Do i really need light resist if I have really good stacked resists?

You'll have 85 passive resist which means you won't get one shotted by a fcer. Plus you can turn it on against fohers or against trappers and just plain charge them.

Whatever though, it's your hdin :P

which would you recommmend on a libby? Light res or charge?
