Hey,
http://www.aldendale.com/DenPic.jpg
I was just going through clearing out my den quests on all difficulties. I opened the quest log as soon as it updated, it said 4 monsters remaining. I then killed two more (quest log open) and it dropped like normal. Then, when I killed one more, and it should have gone to 1 remaining. But instead it say "666 monsters remaining." I wandered around for a few minutes, and found a whole pack. I killed the first, and it said "Monsters remaining: " and it was blank. Killed a few more and it went to "10 remaining" then dropped down to zero like normal after. I did get credit for doing the quest...
so ya... I just found it interesting.

Too strange/funny to be some random bug...maybe some sort of blizzard-bug joke?
If I remember rightly, this is connected with getting down to the last few monsters and having a Fallen Shaman around in the Den. I think having him raise enough dead fallen to any number greater than five causes the quest log to display the remaining number of monsters as 666.
Edit:
@CrimsonOmen: possibly. There's a few others, like how the game refers to anything not explicitly named in it's files (the spirits in Meph's lair, the windows of the "Cathedral of the Dammed" (http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=584563)) as "An Evil Force".

It's not that i don't think. I'm pretty sure 'An Evil Force' and 'Missing String' are the only unknown labels the game provides.

Nice bug. Glad you got a snappy. Let us know if you manage to complete the quest.

I got credit for the quest after it went down to 0 monsters remaining the second time... so I guess I can't complain.

It's not a bug or edited, it's a small easter egg. I've gotten that message several times myself.

Its a low quality .jpeg hence the linear algebra kicks in to bundle batches of color... its called compression. If you want a .tiff that doesn't have compression, let me know, its only about 1/3 mb. I just figured those running 54k probably didn't want to load the uncompressed image. :wink3:
But no, I didn't edit it.
