Ok,

me and my buddy were in a game yesterday, we were consolidating items/runes/gems etc... for trading and other things.

I laid down an organset, flawless gems, some mid/high runes (lem/pul) then some Uniques and a lot of Rals...

I came back in to start collecting etc... and when i was finished I lost my Lem/OrgSet and I thought I had over 50Rals, to find that once I picked themup there were only about have 25 or so...

WHAT IS THE DEAL? is there a "time limit" for items? my Uniques didn't dissapear. is this only a problem in Act1 town? or all towns

could someone please explain this to me if they know, as I became extremely irate last night from a stupid game

Yes, there's a time limit. Whites disappear after like 5-10 minutes on ground in town. Magics take ~30 minutes, and sets/uniques take much longer.

The ~10min timer for whites also applies to grey socketable items, and by extension, to runewords. Don't leave runewords on the floor for long - or, for that matter, anything valuable. You never know when you're going to hit a random patch of lag (your PC, your net connection, the bnet server you're playing on) which could interrupt your connection.

I lost a dkey and a 4os superior monarch last night, and I know the time limits. =[

Bah, wish I had known this lost a circlet with +2 to amazon skills, a verdungo, and gore riders this way >_<

Lost many hrs worth of gear once (high eglitched exile, zaka, pala fcr amus, few other things) from dropping and leaving before the game had permed. That sucked.

Items and Gold Disappear after time when left on the ground
Don't leave items or gold lying on the ground any longer than necessary. Regular items and gold disappear after exactly 10 minutes. Magic items will disappear after 20 minutes. Rare, Set, and Unique items will disappear after lying on the ground for 30 minutes.
