i was just reading in the pala-forum and somehow the runeword silence came to my mind. it has a couple of nice stats, but somehow i just cant imagine what i could use it for.
any suggestions?
200% Enhanced Damage
+75% Damage To Undead
Requirements -20%
20% Increased Attack Speed
+50 To Attack Rating Against Undead
+2 To All Skills
All Resistances +75
20% Faster Hit Recovery
11% Mana Stolen Per Hit
Hit Causes Monster To Flee 25%
Hit Blinds Target +33
+2 To Mana After Each Kill
30% Better Chance Of Getting Magic Items
It's an 1.09+ runeword. Not commonly used after the 1.10+ runewords (and 1.10+ laddre runewords) were made available. Back in the day, it was common in every 6sox eliite weapon availavel

Smiters used to love it in pb but now new rws are of better. I guess if you don't need fcr it makes a nice weapon, +2 skills more than hoto and same high resistance.
Silence is great weapon for some. Hardcore people may love this bow on their bowazon. It gives more resistance then the common shield and gives you blind. By the time you can use this bow, every monster blindable will be blinded.
Count in the fact that it doesn't have to bad damage, skill and mana leech, and you see why this makes a very solid bow when survival is the most important thing.
The other option would be to for a self found bowazon. Vex, ist aren't that hard to find, and it is very nice combined with other easy to find items - treachery for the massive ias boost that you will need with a slow bow.
The main problem is that most people only think about strait damage and don't care to play with duped runes - or are just extremely lucky. In that case, all new rw will outperform silence.

Looks like it might be decent for a summonancer as well.
+2 skills,
+75 Resists,
+20FHR
+30 MF
All these seem like great stats for summonancer.

It might be nice for an act 3 merc if he has res problems which cannot be solved by a Spirit sword.

it still is a great bow. on ladder it's a few lucky forges away as you can cube guls to vex and ist is the only other hard to find piece. i've recently made one self found one and am planning its use.
i really wish i'd been around when it was in its hey day.

In those days, you couldn't cube beyond Thul, so it was exponentially more difficult to make a legit one.

Also, HF didn't produce any better than Um in 1.09. However, the Countess special drop had its max at Vex IIRC.
IIRC it wasn't the special drop that topped out at Vex, but her entire drop.

The chance for Vex is extremely high (1:5700 in 1 player games) and in line with lower runes, so it seems her special drop ends at the same rune as her reguler drop.
Woah... That means 1.09 countessruns might be a good way to get runes for the 1.10s beta.

Not really. Her chance for Ist in 1.10 is 1 in 1100, so you need an average of 4400 runs to cube up 4 of them to Vex.
That goes for the beta as well, I assume? Since you can't take runes backwards.

I'm not sure about that, I just repeated what ATMA said :azn:
Unfortunately, ATMA's wrong when it comes to anything with more than 6 picks
For completeness' sake though, AFAIK, the relative "rarities" are pretty much correct.
