First off, take a gander at this if you haven't already: http://fcdruid.tripod.com/fc.html

As far as gear goes, it's not too hard to make a fireclaws druid on a budget. You'll probably want to max lycnanthropy (as opposed to a fourth fireclaws synergy) to make the most of what little + life you'll have on gear and more specifically charms.

If I were on a budget my gear might look like:
helm = Jalal's, shael-ed
armor = Lionheart or Smoke, both have great mods and nice resistances, and the price is hard to beat (I used a Vipermagi on my first pvp bear)
weapon = robo 6 shael phase blade
shield = Stormshield, eld for more blocking, diamond for resistances
gloves = Bloodfists, huge life and fhr
boots = Aldur's, covers your fire res nicely, tons of fr/w for chasing casters, life, Gores in the stash for some melee
belt = String of Ears, good call for cheap % pdr
jewelry = dual Ravenfrosts (they don't have to be perfect) and a magic + shapeshifting skills/life amulet (again doesn't need to be perfect), Angelics in the stash

There are probably a lot of budget options I've forgotten about too, but this should give you a rough idea of how to build one. Also try and get some plain or fhr shapeshift skillers and a torch if you can, they'll greatly help out your damage and should be relatively cheap too.

Duress is better armor imo and still fairly cheap.
You can get an um from hellforge.

Duress is a solid melee armor for the open wounds, but for an all around choice on a budget, you could get much more life out of Lionheart with both the stats and + life or pure resistance (keep in mind the original poster might not have a solid torch of any anni) with Smoke. I'd almost take a Lionheart for the stats and life and save that um from the Duress and socket it in the shield or helm for resistances equal or greater than what the runeword armor itself would provide. In terms of optimizing life and resistances by getting them on hard gear (since we can't assume making them up through charms) there are stronger options than Duress.

It's nice to say that one armor is better than another, but such comparisons fail if you don't make them in the context of the whole gear setup someone has, or in this case doesn't have to work with.

You know what the forum is really lacking, a guide on how to read the stickies and guides.

I'm dead serious about this, Jayson care to help write one? You've already got that wonderful screenshot of the stickies circled with about a hundred arrows pointing to it from the last time this happened.

You'd need another guide to get you to the guide that tells you where to find character guides ...

"PLEASE READ FIRST: PvM/PvP Druid Guides - Updated Nov 1, 2007" - That should be enough :undecided:
