View Full Version : Burst Of Speed

A little something I made...
The point should be obvious.
I used a power-regression. The formula is f(x)=24.2808x^0.247168. I was in a hurry, so I did not have the time to try other options. I will look into this at some other time.
The IAS formula for BoS is already known:
IAS = 45 * ((110*lvl) / (lvl+6)) / 100 + 15
(use integer math)
My intention was not to make an IAS formula and leave it at that...

The point should be obvious.
Sorry I missed it...
Oh, and Stephan, that is a cute formula.
Well, first of all, if you look at the curve, you will see that once you get pass a certain skill point, x, the increase in attack speed becomes lower pr. skill point invested.
Now, if you think about it for a sec; whould you not want to know which level BoS gives you the highest attack speed pr. skill level? I know I would! And I do!
By differentiation you can find this value...

Now, if you think about it for a sec; whould you not want to know which amount of skill points invested in BoS gives you the highest attack speed pr. skill invested?1 point base.
The only reason to have more than one point would be for some low level build where you need a certain bos% to hit a frame bp with whatever attack you are planning to use. Any assassin and I do mean any assassin that levels to the point of being a "high level character" where +skills items are availiable should use 1 point BoS. having more would be a waste of skill points.
Nice job but.. this chart shows us nothing we can learn from or haven't known already. Sorry.
Re: 1 point base. I wish things were so simple, but they are not.
As I said, I was in a hurry, so I did not have the time to try other options. When I get some more time on my hands Ill take another look at it, and combine BoS with Fade or Weapon Block.
Re: 1 point base. I wish things were so simple, but they are not.
Actually it is.
21 EIAS for 1 point = 21 EIAS/point
27 EIAS for 2 points = 13.5 EIAS/point
31 EIAS for 3 points = 10.33 EIAS/point
etc.
I'm not sure what you are trying to prove here... you can already see from the formula I posted that BoS has diminishing returns (EIAS limit is 64 with rounding).
If you dont understand, you really dont deserve to know.
If you want to share knowledge, you should care to explain.
But, fine with me.

Did I mention this? Yes, yes I did. Was this what I was getting at? No, no it was not. Read #5 again.
In #5 you said you wanted to know what gives the most IAS per skill level. That's 1 point, never 2, 3 or more.
So it's either that, or your point is not what you say your point is.

Re: 1 point base. I wish things were so simple, but they are not.
Actually yes, yes they are.
You do a lot of theorycrafting it seems, but that graph doesnt show anything of importance when it comes to making build choices on an actual built character. Characters opting to use BoS over fade are looking to hit final animation breakpoints, the diminishing returns on BoS with increasing skill levels is irrelevant - Either you hit the breakpoint or you don't and that's what determines what your build's total skill level of BoS should be, not the drop off in %gain per level. In the case of every (and let me once again emphisize every) high level assassin build using torch/anni/enigma/+ other +skill boosting equipment should never have more than 1 point BoS.
On a side note about the way you are presenting this thread and your later posts in it..
I don't know why you are being so cryptic about how you are revealing this information you're working on, but I guess I'll just wait and see when you post your findings.
I will post another snack and combine fade. Maybe tomorrow.
I'll close this and let you post the new thread when you are ready.
