Hi guys,

I just wanted to hear the opinions of all you pally gurus out there. I'll tell you my build, my skills, my gear, & why I did it. Then tell me what you think I messed up on, what I did well, or if the whole thing was a stupid idea :wink3:

So my build is a PDR-centered Avenger. It doesn't reach the heights of damage that 2h-Avengers can dish out, but I'm mostly able laugh in the faces of my enemies before I decide to actually swing at them.

My skills are as follows:
Vengeance - 1
Fire Resistance - 20
Cold Resistance - 20 (haven't actually finished maxing yet as i'm only 74)
Lite Resistance - 20
Conviction - 20
Salvation - 1
Pre-reqs - 7

My gear is as follows:
Magic Circlet w/1 sol - +3 combat skills, 31PDR
Magic Armor w/4 sols - 41 PDR
Magic Shield w/4 Pdiamonds - 118 Res All
Magic Ammy - 23 PDR
Infernostrides
Tgods
Soul Drainer
Manald - 7% ml
Nat's Peace - 11PDR
Rune Master - 2 Amns, 2 Shaels, 1 15IAS/18 Cold Res jewel
I tried building a pally that is centered around reducing as much damage as possible

As for my reasoning for this ragtag combination of gear:
The 4 magic items give me 95PDR & 118@...a good start for reducing damage

The Nats peace ups my PDR to 106 and also gives me the PMH & RIP mods. I thought those were important since I'm not a super fast killer.

The Soul Drainers were mainly chosen for the ctc weaken, to increase the effectiveness of my PDR. The dual leech is also nice.

The Manald was the only thing I had at hand to leech enough mana to spam Vengeance without any mana loss. My total ml is 12% with Soul Drainers.

The infernostrides, Tgods, & Rune Master allow me to get my max resistances up to 95 fire, 90 ice, & 95 lite.

The Rune Master also provides CBF so I didn't need a raven. It also allowed me to fill in where I needed some help; Amns for 14%ll on top of the 4% from Soul Drainers allows me to leech back any life lost from poison, OW, extra strong monsters, anything that manages to hurt me a little. With the shaels & ias jewel, I reach 11fpa which is kinda slow but I wasn't sure how to get any faster.

My charms include a couple max/ar GCs & a bunch of res charms to get all my resistances to their max.

Overall he does fairly well. He's still a little slow but I guess that's the tradeoff of using a PDR rig. There's been a few close calls, mainly against extra strong, might, or fanat enchanted boss packs but I guess most builds find those boss packs dangerous. I haven't done Baal yet but everything else has been pretty do-able. And this is the lowest lvl character I've ever had in Hell A5, so that must count for something (I did everything in Hell mode on my own). So that sums up my attempt at a non-cookie-cutter avenger. Let me know what you guys think of it. All comments appreciated. Thanks!

I guess you could just go with Griswold's set full of sols (more combat effective because of set bonuses), but this build seems okay.

I had actually intended to go w/Griswold's when I started but a couple things stopped me:

Stuffed with sols, Gris only gives 56PDR + my ammy/Nats peace for a total of 90 PDR. I'm already about 15PDR lower than I wanted to be with 106. 90 was just too low for my tastes.

Using full Gris means that there is no way for me to raise the max res of either lite or cold beyond the 85 granted by the passive bonus from the resistance auras. Tgods or Snowclash are the only items that can increase the max res of lite/cold in a slot that is not already taken by the gris set. I wanted to get all 3 to at least 90.

I chose infernostrides cuz I had them & I only needed +10 not +15 due to the +10 from the fire resistance aura
