View Full Version : the most stupidest question, ever but I gotta know
I have never seen any information that IM affects monsters when they attack bonewall/boneprison?
if they do is it pssible to make a IM bone wall/prison necromancer?:shocked::shocked:

nah, the dumbest build ever is the thorns/sacrifice Titan pally........
imho: IM is utterly useless PvM. the one and only time i've ever found it to be even remotely useful is vs Normal Diablo. tag D with IM and keep lobbing Gumby in front of him while praying he decides to whack gumby rather than hose-of-death.

Remember when BG + IM were the only two skills a necro ever needed? Those were the days.

... wha... there's actually such a thin-
Of course there is. And I knew about it all along. Ha ha ha! I was just playing around. It's not like this is the first time I've heard about it and now I'm just trying to cover my embarassment. No, of course not. Everyone knows how leet a Matador build can get. Definately one of the best Necromancer builds I've made in my D2 career. Definately. but cant a necro with a IM golem (maxed Golem mastery Iron Maiden Amplify Damage Iron Golem) deal with almost everyone in hell?

How useful is IM in PvP??
What kind of builds could it be used against?

From Arreat Summit:
When attacking other players, all damage of attacks and spells is 17% or 1/6.
Iron Maiden has an additional 1/4 damage penalty.
This is further reduced by any DR your opponent might have.
So basically, when your opponent attacks you, their damage is reduced by 1/6. Your IM returned damage will be reduced by a 1/6 penalty, a 1/4 penalty, and any DR. As you can imagine, the numbers are very small.
Thorns + Amplify Damage (which owns IM) can work with Minions though, as they are not "players".

Does IM/Thorns works with Bonewall (its not a player) I mean trap and then cast IM, if the melee try to fight him loose he'll die a most painfull death?????

Yes it works, on bone wall/prision and on your minions. I think this type of build worked better in earlier versions (until 1.09 ?), but the effectiveness of IM was reduced. I remember people talking about using Revives and Golems together with IM, but Bone Wall should be fine too.

if you wanted to go this route I would think you could get to the same end with a better result by focusing on the bone skills while trying to get a sorce of a thorns aura and then amping the trapped character instead of trying to rely in IM. Same idea and close to the corrupt televangilist build but focusing on bone skills instead of revives.

Or the jailkeeper: capture your enemies in a prison and slowly kill them with bone skills, golem+IM, or just a long stick.

Well, I did some testing a while back which indicated that Bone Armour blocks Iron Maiden. In other words they don't get damage return until your damage shield goes away. Shame that.
Secondly, usually the monsters will be targeting you or merc, so they won't attack the wall/prison even if completely blocked in. There are ways around this (e.g. run away and then come back) but they suck.
Thirdly the wall/prison is not 'on your team' so it won't get any Thorns aura from you or merc. You'd have to trap them in the prison, then plop in a gumby for a 'steel cage match' if you wanted them to die from Thorns. Except that gumby slows them, so you should use a different golem instead if you're working with damage return.

wow.. that's.. ..amazing..
maz all syng. for bone prison and get IM, get whatever left to iron golem? :D
-random thought no. no deep thought included-
That kind of build was quite effective until a certain patch came (not certain which one). After that, the monsters have about 100 times more life than they do damage. In normal the damage/life ratio is much better, and the enemies deal about the same damage as they have, so the build can be good in the beginning, but it's certainly not nightmare/hell viable
