Formula for blocking:
Total Blocking = [(Blocking * (Dexterity - 15)) / (Character Level * 2)]
1) what does the first block stand for?
2) how do you get to max block or something like that
Blocking would probably be the % the shield has.

Plus any blocking bonuses: Holy shield, Safety amulet, Guardian Angel, Twitchthroe.
or if you want to make it easy you can se it IG by just equiping the shield you are to use and then push the dexbutton untill it hits 75%

It isn't so helpful when adjusting gear - new charms, new jewlery (better anni/torch/raven, f.ex.). For example, my smiter has way too much dex - I pumped it to 120 (to be able to wield a Grief PB with a Raven Frost equipped), but I didn't account that I will get an Anni and that Holy Shield at level 20+ gives so much extra block.
I think it is wise to calculate required dexterity, so as to not mess up like I did :undecided:
i dont get why you need max block...
i have 67 with that equation and im lvl 73... to put more dex or not? i have like 139 with all my eq
i dont get why you need max block...If you can't understand why a 75% chance to take zero damage from many attacks is a good thing... I don't know, it's kind of self-explanatory. Do you want to get hit, or not? I suspect you do not. So, go for max block.

You get hit 33/25=1.32 = 32% more than someone with max block. Also, use Holy Shiled. It will easily max out this block amount.
I have 63% block with both Stormshield and HoZ - without Holy Shileld.
