Smiter Help Fast

Well, I've finally made my first character that actually owns *grats to me* Anyways.. Here's my gear so far...

Grief PB
Shako
String Of Ears
Gore Riders/Switch off to Treks for dueling.
BK1st/Raven2nd
Upped HoZ*PDIAMOND*
Dracs
Syphers Ammy? I believe that's what it's called lol..
Pally Torch
Fortitude/Duress=Confused....

Ok so.. People have been telling me many different things, and I want to know the real deal. I want to be able to PvP/Uber Trist Solo *possibly* or with a PP doesn't matter..

Belt- Dungos
Shield- Exile
Head- CoA
Ammy- Mara's?
Armor- Extremely confused here, do I continue to use Fort? Or use Duress, Nigma, or CoH D:
Boots- Which do I use, Gore's or Treks, or keep doing what I do when I explained gear?
Weapon- Keep Grief obviously right? lol..
Misc- Life SC'S, Pally GCOMBS? And Anni and Torch, all obvious.. I have Torch though.

So, do I save up and purchase what people have been telling me? Or are they completely wrong?

Dungos/tgods sounds about right.
Coa x2ber for the dr
Mara for resists is fine.
Enigma/Fort. It's a preference and most seem to enjoy enigma as telesmite is a useful method of taking people by surprise.
Gores/rare with resists
Grief pb is fine.
Inventory should be torch,anni, various life/resist scs.

Now the shield.. exile would help out greatly for uber trist as the ctc lifetap is high but this is considered bm in a public duel game. Otherwise.. hoz/spirit/whatever works out great.

HoZ non-upped (waste of runes and Strength points if you have Grief) 'Pdiamond'

Switch:
Random shield (for block and defense)
Life Tap charges wand

Extra:
Treachery Breastplate (to pre-cast Fade)
Passion Ettin Axe (when I need to do some Phys Immune killing/fight while Iron Maidened)

Inventory:
Annihulus (No Torch since I hate the Hellfire proc on it)
A few @res SC's
A few lifer SC's
A bunch of single res SC's

My smiter is a 1-pt smiter (20 Zeal, Sacrifice, Holy Shield, Fanaticism, 1 Smite, rest Defiance). He can PvM very effectively outside of Ubers, thanks to Zeal, and at the same time, does VERY short work of Ubers (A few minutes at most, and I am inexperienced at ubering!).

My build might not be suited for PvP, but for Ubering, I doubt you can have a better setup...

Yeah, I'll probably save up and buy the Exile first, and use HoZ for duels possibly, and Exile for Ubers/PVM. I'll test it out and see.

If you're short on cash, you can use a Life Tap wand - they're "free" (cost only gold to buy from a vendor), and can be cast from a distance. The duration is low, though, so Dracs are still adviced.

I would actually get exile last out of the list as the life tap wand mentioned above is just as great when added with dracs.

Yeah, thanks. I'm not switching off my Dracs for anything. I always Tap, seems the luck is always on my side :P

I'm essentially happy with my Smiter as of now.. LVL 76 And can Solo any Uber Tristram Boss.. However, Resists is a problem when it comes to meps summons/monsters. =/

Any solution for the resist problems? I have like 35 resist for everything.

Why are you wearing shako? Also I just run salv when doing meph, doesn't slow me down at all. Or make treachery shael+thul+lem in 3os armor, it has CTC fade.

PvP you might want a Grief BA, especially when fighting WW barbs or other smiters. The extra range makes a lot of difference. You will never beat a Grief BA smiter with a Grief PB.

Guills face, for the CB. Or kiras. Shako is for MFing, it doesn't even have any resists.

CoA is useless for ubers, besides the resists it offers nothing. You aren't being physically attacked in ubers, its all elemental.

charge or light res would be my suggestions.

Yeah I would go light res probably. Charge is good for running out of the groups of monsters after you kill meph because there will be all those mages and pitlords there.

Not to mention that a transparent Paladin looks pretty cool :wink2: Yeah, this is what I use for prebuff as well, and all my resists are stuck at 75 when fighting Mephisto with Fanaticsim aura on. Treachery is such a good pre-buff runeword, and it is xxx times cheaper than LW, too...

Alright, my resists are now all 75, except for lighting which is 95! My DMG is 2k, at level 79 W/O Exile, Mara's, or anni, GC's etc... I have almost 2k life, and str glitched :)

So, what do i start putting to now when it comes to skills not that I've maxed everything a smiter needs maxed.

I assume you are going the classic Smiter way (not the ingenious 1-pt Smiter way described in an awesome guide here, on Paladin forum). Thus, you have maxed Smite, Fanaticism, Holy Shield and Defiance.

Well, I suggest you get Zeal, especially if you use a Grief - it's ITD, coupled with high Zeal speed, will make short work of any non-boss monsters around you, and that's without that SUPER annoying Knockback from Smite.

Plus you can leech with Zeal.
