View Full Version : A Newb question, Regarding Shrunken Heads
Sorry, this question probably sounds stupid, and I am missing something. Necro heads come with a max of 2 sockets right?
Shrunken Heads can have 1-3 bonuses of +1-3 to Necromancer Skill Levels and can only be worn by Necromancers.
That is from AS. So, this means, you could have a white +3Skel Mastery/+3Raise Skelly, and 2 open sockets. I have read multiple guides, but have yet to read anywhere that suggest for new players to put the Runeword "Rhyme" in it.
I am probably missing something very simple, such as Shrunken heads are not classified as shields, thus the runeword does not work. Sorry for the stupid question. Thanks in advance.
That is correct. A Shrunken Head with +3 Skeleton Mastery, +3 raise Skeleton and 2 sockets is possible. And yes, you can make a "Rhyme" runeword in it. Taken from Arreat Summit under runewords:
Shield = Any armor that can be used to block, including shields, Necromancer Shrunken Heads, and Paladin Shields.
Thank you for the reply. Question for anyone else than. Why is it never spoken of? Is there something about it I am missing or anything like that? Its cheap, it helps out, and its simple!
Because finding such a head is not very easy, and itīs really not better than a homon, if memory serves me correctly. Since Hs are easily traded for, I guess thatīs why people doesnīt do that kind of shields. Nice idea, though.

Because such heads would be used for summoning your army before switching to other gear. That's why it's better to make Splendor in such a shield for the +1 skills (= stronger army).

Yup, thats the way to go.
Just a note though : Find that head with those bonuses will be extremely hard. I've been looking ever since I can remember and havent found one yet. :sad2:

^^use the el + chippie on inferior heads. the chances of those mods spawning is a little better on lower ilvl heads =)

Even better would be a Golemlord's Shrunken Head with +3 Raise Skeleton, +3 Skeleton Mastery and +3 Skeletal Mage. That's what I'm after for.
Wish me luck. :wink3:

I'll take +3 RS, +3 SM, and either +3 Amp or +3 GM...hell for the third mod, I'll even take +3 CE.
Edit- Oh and as far as the chippy recipe to make low level heads with the mods you're looking for...there's only 1 problem with that theory. Those ones can't have 2 sockets. (at least I don't think they can...I think it turns them into an ilvl 1)

=)
the idea is to make those heads ilvl 1, so that lower tier skills like sm, rs etc are more likely to spawn..

Simple answer. Not only is that white head beyond difficult to find, if a guide did suggest a use for it would be the runeword splendor for that extra +1 buffing skill.
p.s. If anyone finds one of these on ESCL let me know. :)
