View Full Version : Any interest in a 'Beer MP' session?
Thought that would get your attention.
No, I'm not sending beer to people who join in but I've MPd with a few people who like to meander around, make sure they get every WP, do every quest and generally play as if they have a beer in one hand and the mouse in the other.
The sort of MP session that takes at least three hours to get out of act 1 normal. Not just following the road and hitting the waypoints and ignoring the unecessary quests.
Would anyone be interested in this? Untwinked, trundling?
Hardcore, softcore, vanilla or modded is up for discussion, just the actual playstyle I'm putting out there at the moment.

It's more like going to the pub then gaming in a speedy slaughter RPG? A social thing, yeah, I'd like it this weekend. Sat/Sun.
I think untwinked suits this thing. I prefer HC but can do SC since most may prefer it. Rwm/rrm.

id like to join an untwinked HC party doing full clears, taking time for shopping and gambling as we go. i am not online as much as id like though and the time difference we all have has caused me to miss past HC starts. if i am around and if i see a game starting i would join.

I would prefer SC though since I have tendency for stupid moves...
(RRM/RWM too, go go Insight/Spirit, etc...)
Full clears and shopping/gambling breaks and generally slow game pace suits for me also.

Sure, we al do stupid moves. Maybe SC is good so that noone will drop out because of some stupidity.
Some hints about builds:
Since I don't MP much and sometimes don't have the patience to build strange builds this might be the opportunity to do so. I'm thinking about the following builds:
* Cleric (To heal you all and gieb gg auras.)
* Curser (Yes, like a sailor/pirate and maybe with some golem.)
* Windy (Not that strange but still...)
What you think about that?
I think I'd be interested in this depending on when it is.

well, for trading i am (draws breath) [1.07, 1.10, 1.11 rwm (installed) rrm (taint)]
however.. if we are starting new HC untwinked chrs then all i have to do is click on the old shortcut to make any new untwinked chrs vanilla. i am happy to go with the host on this.
as for weekends, thats no good at all for me :( and this has always been the trouble with trying to organize these sorts of games.

Yeah, there's always the same issues - different timezones, some people have family to take care of, work, etc... but well just have to try and arrange some time that would suit for most people.
Personally I could be able to play almost every evening, but there will be days when I can't play at all...
If this plan goes forward I would like to propose arranging those sessions via MSN or such to make arrangements much faster...

Actually I don't mind HC that much as it would be nice introduction to that side of Diablo 2, but lots of people MP:ing -> lag + tough monster mob + HC = :lipsrsealed:
But if you decide to go HC I would be still interested :smiley:
He, that is actually the way I usually play the game, al least in Normal and Nightmare. So if you go softcore I'd love to join you with my barbarian. Fridays and Sundays afternoons and evenings are good to me(Central Europe time).
Ok guys, this is looking good. It doesn't matter if we don't all play together but I fancied a slow, chilled MP experience, rather than a "everyone wanders off separately, runs up the path, hits the waypoints and gets to Act 5 in 30mins". Doesn't really matter if three of us play HC in one game and four in SC or something. Let's see how the majority pans out. Gieb info please:

Most evenings I can be on late, between 6 and 8 'till about 10. Weekends I can reliably be on early in the morning until about 9. I'm US Central time (GMT-6).

I'd definitely be down for an untwinked, laid back MP experience. In fact, it's the reason why I've kinda stopped MPing- I just really don't enjoy trying to keep up with the group. I'll be around some this weekend; if I happen to see a game going up, I'll definitely drop in for some fun ;)

I can play working day evenings(most of them, unless i have some urgent stuff to do like uni stuff or alike), Fridays afternoons and evenings, Sunday afternoons and evenings. Saturday is no good for me. Thats Central Europe time (GMT +1)

My timezone is GMT+2 and I should be able to play at least at majority of evenings during the week and at any time (except nights) during Friday and weekend (sudden changes of plans very possible)

Also changed a build, I'll be going with a fury/elemental wolf druid, somehow i find the druids to be a lot more potent for wacky builds then other classes :laugh:
So Callador you can play your singer without fear of BO competition :wink3:

Also, what you guys think about "firmcore", basically softcore, but on death you drop out (hope not to see too much of that).
It would add a lot of edge to the whole thing making it much more exciting, but if you die you still have your character and can proceed on your own. What do you think? For me, I choose Sc mostly because nowadays I play SC and would like to be able to use this character like all of my others characters once we defeat Hell Baal.
EDIT2: Oh yeah, when do we start? I'm very much into this, haven't played untwinked in a while now, it will be a welcome change :laugh:

I'd be up for this (think I'm the 8th in the table, if I can still count that is), I'll use it as a chance to get an Assassin further than Act 5 normal. I'd much prefer SC to HC, this is meant to be relaxing and slow paced after all. Mods, I'd prefer to have RWM, but it doesn't really bother me.
I agree with Callador that using MSN would make organising game a lot easier than posting and trying to agree on a specific time.
Tables aren't too hard either, just paste it into your favourite text editor and use spaces to space out columns rather than tabs, although I'll admit the spacing in reply box doesn't help things much.

I just wanted to pop in and say that if anyone else is interested in joining this group, we only had 5 players this weekend. If you have or want to start a new character, as Thyiad said we stopped at the outer cloister and around level 15. Took us over 3 hours to get just that far, so obviously it's not rushing, but there's still plenty of action. Feel free to get a character ready and post your interest here.
Also, I'm speaking for myself, but I think the rest of the group will agree that this is not about the group, it's more about playing with friends at a slower-than-breakneck pace. Therefore, don't think you can't join in later if you didn't play today. Feel free to post your interest and check the thread for updates. When this does happen again (probably Sunday again unless things line up well during the week) I'm thinking it'll be first-come first-serve if there happens to be more than 8 interested players.

Another assassin, not sure the build
An Amazon for just a bit, didn't play the whole time.
So, any kind of pally or necro would be nice, but of course any kind of party-friendly build is welcome. Unless the wolfie is going to use summons, I forsee possible tanking issues in the future (of course, we will all have mercs, so maybe not :scratch:)
That would be cool. I like the idea but don't know how often I would be around. I'll look at getting a bone necro, perhaps with revives for tanking.
Sorry I had to leave at lvl 7. I'd love to play tonight if you guys are up for it? I guess I could enter some untwinked char I have in about the same level as yours. I know I have a fishy in about that level. What you guys say, you like to play tonight aswell?
@bob: My druids summons will probably be for decoration purposes only, with max 1 point invested in them. So, some heavy summoner will be welcomed.

Normally Monday would work, but I have family in town and will probably not be around this evening.
I believe that my evening is really late for most of the rest of the group. If there's any interest in playing at that time from others in the states or some night-owls that's fine, otherwise go ahead and I will try to play/level individually and keep up so I can join on the weekend.

I'm free for the rest of today, after I've done some shopping, and I can host, so if there are about 5 people interested I can put a game up later.

I knew this would be an issue during the week, but I see no reason not to post that I'm available. Some of you kids these days stay up way past your bedtime playing your silly computer games anyway . . .:laugh:
Hey guys I know this is my first post and all, but I've been reading the forums for quite a while and I have never had the chance to play this game with other people. Is there any chance to get in on this? My time is Eastern and I can play almost anytime a game is up. (Unless something pops up at home =).) What level are you guys so I can try to catch up? Like I said earlier, I've been dying to try this game on multi player.

The group stopped at the beginning of Act 2 normal, around level 20ish. Just finished the first quest.

I have some reports to do and early awakening tomorrow so I won't be able to join you tonight... :undecided:
I won't be able to play until Friday evening, feel free to continue without me, I might catch up with you during the weekend.
Doesn't look like enough people are around to make this happen tonight, so I think I'll leave the game for now.
Hey, I got one char that I started yesterday with heskla. Untwinked. clvl 18, Act 1 finished, so i might join in tonight after 22. Or here or in MP thread.

I might play today after 22h (GMT +1) - bout hour and a half from this time.
Heskla might come to. Yesterday we passed ACt 2 (clvl 24), but we kind of run through it. So today we might go through Act 2 if someone wants/need to.

I'll be around all day today, not feeling great and the weather is crappy anyway. If we need to start earlier and get through act 2 I can host starting, well, just about any time. Will anyone be around in about an hour, hour and a half? Just started Act 2, level 16.
