Question about rolling charms

How do you know what to put into the cube to make new charms. I don't know what kinda gems to put in with charms. Can anyone help me

Any perfect gem/skull x3 along with a Charm in your cube will "roll" you a new one.
The most profitable is to use a Baal/Nihla/Dia Grand Charm with high ilvl for the possibility of rolling a Skiller mod along with a Life mod - say Fire Skiller + 41 life
