Hi, I have a question regarding to Thorn Aura and IM. Are their mechanism the same? Will they work together and stack the effect? For example, if Thorn returns 1000% damange, and IM returns 500%, and if they are active at the same time, will they return 1500% damage?
If they stack, are they better together or are Thorn+Amplify Damage better?
Thanks!

Thorns do not factor in Amplify Damage.
Thorns and IM do stack though. Too bad most monsters in NM and Hell do enchanted damage, not much physical.

Thorns do not factor in Amplify Damage.
Actually Thorns and Amp do work together. You curse a monster with Amp and his resistances drop with 100%. This monster then hits you and the Thorns damage is calculated. This is then applied to the monster who will take double the damage.

It's generally better to cast Amplify Damage rather than Iron Maiden in combination with Thorns, although it depends on the magnitude of the Thorns aura and physical resistance.
Let's say your Necromancer or Rogue equips an Edge 'TirTalAmn' bow with its Level 15 Thorns Aura When Equipped, which returns 810% damage; a monster with 0% physical resistance dealing 100 damage will have 810 (100 x 810/100) damage returned. AD will reduce that monster to -100% (0 - 100) physical resistance, resulting in 1,620 (810 x (100 - (0 - 100))/100) damage returned. Iron Maiden would have to return 810% damage or more to equal or better that, which it does at level 26 (825%) and beyond.
A monster with 50% physical resistance dealing 100 damage will have 405 (810 x (100 - 50)/100) damage returned; AD would reduce that monster to -50% (50 - 100) physical resistance, resulting in 607.5 (405 x (100 - (50 - 100))/100) damage returned. Iron Maiden would have to return 1,620% damage or more to equal or better that, which it only does at level 58 (1,625%) and beyond.
Now let's say your Necromancer or Rogue equips both an Edge bow and a Bramble 'RalOhmSurEth' armour with its Level 15-21 Thorns Aura When Equipped , resulting in Level 30-36 Thorns Aura When Equipped (if they are equipped by the same character the stats stack, like + to Strength or Dexterity), which returns 1,410-1,650% damage; you would need level 50-59 IM (1,425-1,650%) to return more damage with Thorns than AD... and that's just against a monster with 0% physical resistance...

Thanks, guys, for the detailed answers :) I now have a much clearer picture!

Thorns + amp is the way to go, no question. If you go from 50% physical resistance to -50% because of amp, then you have effectively tripled the damage you would have seen otherwise.
And then when you follow up with CE, of course amp is better. And it's party friendly, and it only costs 1 point.
