Uber fail

So I geared up my uber kicker and tried Tristram for the first time to day. As the title suggests, it didn't go as well as planned. I did end up killing them, and getting my torch, but only after dieing and S&Eing 3 times.

First I'll state what I think is the problem, post my setup, and then see if you guys can pinpoint any easy fixes.

The biggest issue, that I could see, during ubers was that all of the minions kept getting in the way. I tried to MB as many as I could, but unless I was hitting all the time I would die, I need to constantly attack to replenish my life, which wavers extremely quickly.

In addition to that, Baals mana burn breath was the biggest issue. I had no problems killing Mepisto and Diablo, so long as I could get most of their minions away from me, but Baal took me forever. Everytime he'd drain my mana I'd have to full juv or use 3 mana pots to get it to go back up fast enough to stay alive- this became extremely annoying extremely fast.

Here is a run down of my gear, and skill/stat allocation.

LW (Phase blade, 60%CB)
Stormshield socketed with 15ias/15res jewel.
Dusk COH
Guillames socketed with a 15/15 jewel.
Rare gloves with 20 IAS, and res mods (trying to craft some good blood gloves still)
2x 20/xxx ravens, just to wear PB... I may only wear one later on.
Tgods
Up'd Gores
Metalgrids

2x +3 shadow claws on switch, demon limb in inventory.

My inventory is stashed full of +% res charms, and a few life SCs. I also have 2 MA gcs.

Here is an accumlation of my res/CB/IAS/OW/DR

Res: COH (65), Metalgrid (33), SS (75% cold, 40% lit, 15% cold, 15% fire), Guillames (15), Gloves (lit: 14%, fire: 10%). Lvl 27 Fade: 68%all, small charms: fire:33% cold:30% lit:44% psn: 40%, +4 all sc)

So obviously I'm not worried too much about res, I didn't check my LCS when Meph had conviction on me, but I have 75/75/85/75 without fade casted so I doubt I was in trouble once his conviction hit.

CB: LW (60), Guilames (35), Gores (15)
Total=115% CB

OW: 10

DR: SS (35), Fade (28)
Total: 50+ DR

IAS: Guilames (15), SS (15), Gloves (20)
Total: 45% IAS enough to hit 7/3 kicks.

Skills:
Max Dtalon
Max Venom
Max Fade
Maxing Shadow Master

1 in: MB, Dflight, Blade Shield, COS, and all prereqs to get to those skills.


Any suggestions to help me out? Specifically with the mana burn from Baal?

Why exactly? I think the ctc lifetap on LW is enough, since I'm hitting so fast. And if I lose the gloves I have I lose 20% IAS, and no longer hit 7/3 kicks.

Ideally, I hope to get some blood gloves with +MA, 20% IAS, +cb, +minor res.

I think it's more technique then any failing in your build. I run almost the same setup, and while it's not as fast as the smiter it's totaly doable. Oh yeah, this is on hardcore where death is not an option.

Swap your gface helm for a Kiara's. Lastwish is useful because it covers basically all the cb your char needs in one gear slot. Since you dont need the cbf from RF any longer, your free to add a dwarfstar for the fire sorb, mdr and 40 life.

dont know if you have it as an option, but if you went with kiras you could probably free up your armor slot for Fort and get more kick damage which is more leach.

have you considered using a point in cobra strike? It keeps you attacking but adds massive life/mana leach.


you said that your res are max before fade. Keep in mind that meph's conviction is -120 , so you may need to throw a few charms on. (one of the reasons I suggest kiras since res are of the utmost importance.


Basicly the biggest fault I see is the needlessly excessive cb via Gface. Use that helm slot for something that offers you something else, because with lw and gores you have all the cb you'll need.

Concerning the kiras, I think I mentioned this but my entire inventory is full of res sc's, and I'm pretty sure even with his conviction my res is fine. I've stuck 15/15's in everything I can. I didn't have any problem dispatching Meph, it was just baal's mana burn, and all the minions crawling up my ***.

Is there a way to keep all the ubers from summoning crap? Should I even cast my shadow, or is she causing more trouble than good?

@Dwarf: I did swap this out about an hour ago, but I lost a lot of AR, but I suppose the fire sorb is more helpful than the cold sorb from raven since almost everything in trist is casting meteor and firewall on me, or spitting fire at me.

I never ran a shadow with me in trist, id imagine she would be like a merc and not be helpful at all.

You say you have level 27 fade which grants you 68% to all res. I am not going to do the math for you ;) but what happens when the lower level fade from your lastwish triggers? Do you still have enough for max with Meph's conviction aura on you?

I use a last wish phase blade and I did not take fade to a high level due to the fact that lastwish overrides it so often.

How's your hit recovery? Enough to hit the fastest breakpoint? 86% I believe.

What about putting a Delerium helm on your merc? I imagine the ctc Confuse would probably help with all the minions.

11+35=46, thats pretty much 50dr, even with LW override. Pretty sure I still have enough res, again, meph wasn't a problem for me.

My FHR sucks, as far as I know. I may try to get a bunch of 5% FHR charms. 45% as of now, 30 from guilames, and 15% from 5% on res sc's.

a dual life/mana leech ring with the right stats might be a good replacement for one of your ravens

I agree. Never thought about mana leech, but that does seem like a good solution. How exactly does leech work? I've never understood? Does the damage you're inflicting reflect how much you leech?

I think most everyone has mentioned you have too much crushing blow and not enough FHR. Why not change gores to shadow dancers, you only lose 15 cb and gain 30 FHR. I also think fort armor would increase you def and damage and only lose 35 resistance. Finally, mana burn... can you mana leech from ubers. I know you cant life leech but not sure about mana. I guess duel leech ring with resistance couldnt hurt.

I like the idea of shadow dancers, I'll have to try and grab some. That'll definately get me way closer to the FHR bp.

As for fort, the 12% damage to mana scares me even more than baals mana burn, and does the 200% damage to demons on COH basically equate to the +%ed on fort?

From the first post, you say your life jumps up and down. With DTM, your mana will jump up after taking some dmg, which you appearently regain, so that can help I suppose. Besides, Fort has some res to it and more dmg, just less skill :P
