View Full Version : Is bramble armor effective ww'er vs smiter?
Does the thorns kill them faster than they can kill you if your WWing them?
Right now I can kill 3/4 of most smiters because my AR so high. But some have crazy def and kill me too fast, is bramble good against this?

Most creatures' damage in Hell is enchanted damage, reducing the effectiveness of thorns.
I didn't see him mention PvM anywhere in his post...???

With Bramble on, high attack rating with a nice damaging weapon, I can see you beating smiter's 95% of the time by just whirlwinding away. 2-3 smite attempts should kill them between WW, OW if you have, and damage returned.
Thorns suffers huge penalties in PvP. It does 1/10th if I remember correctly.
You can expect to chip off a good 100 life from bramble. Not worth it.

wow, overnerfed IMO.
Although, with a high Thorns Bramble, you get 1050% return I believe. Thus 105% return in Pvp. So is it that the damage that is recieved after PDR and the Pvp penalty or is the damage returned based on the original damage they deal? Also, does the return damage then "re-suffer" the pvp penalty and pdr?

No.
Only good if you have full psn charm setup but then they'll just use massive res after first loss ^^

Ok, Thorns is triple nerfed in PvP, simply because of the way the damage is calculated. I will give an example of it, because I think it is clearer than trying to explain it.
We will round your number to 1000% Damage returned for ease of calculating.
Let us say that our opponent hits for 3600 physical damage (thorns has no effect on elemental)
This then suffers the PvP penalty so you take 600 damage (assuming no DR gear.. DR gear makes the situation even worse... trust me...)
This damage is then returned via thorns. Now, in PvP thorns works at 1/10th effectiveness, so it returns a mere 100% of the opponents damage.
This 600 damage is then hit by the PvP penalty, and becomes 100 damage. This is then affected by DR as usual.
The pvp penalty kills thorns usefulness...

I agree that it mutilates the usefulness. But a ?
Isn't the PvP penalty for physical 1/4 not 1/6? same for magic (bone berserk etc)

Nopes, 1/6 across the board.
1/4 for Physical and Magic would just be obscene, given they are not affected by resists already (ok... DR is handy, but it is limited to 50... as opposed to 75/95)
