Question about /players

I've ready threads stating that people play on /players 8 or /p8. Does this mean you can play as a single player in a game designed where the monsters are harder to kill? If so, how do you do this? I tried typing /players 8 and it says that it is an invalid command. Also, are the loot drops better than playing alone? Thanks for any help you can give me

It doesn't work on battlenet, just in single player mode.

it does work on open and tcp/ip, but only if entered from the host computer

yes, there are more drops, monsters have more life and give better exp

life=base life (1+players)/2
exp=base exp (1+players)/2
