View Full Version : You can reroll Grand Charm stats?
I was told you could do this but haven't seen a thread where it explains it.
Does the rerolling matter what level the Grand Charm is? or can i just put 3x pgems and any ol grand charm in a cube?
thanks

Grand charms work just like anything else. So yes, you can reroll them. And yes, the input item matters.
hmm so If i want a +skill. I have to put a +skill in?

No, but the item level will make a big difference. Most people choose to re-roll GCs dropped by either Baal or Nihlathak, as these give you a chance of re-rolling the coveted +45 Life skillers. I think a good rule of thumb would be to only roll these charms or those from areas with high level monsters (the Pits in Tamoe Highlands etc.)

No. You can't tell the input item's level based on the item attributes (well, you can know the minimum, but you can't know the maximum). If you're looking for +skill gc, any grand charm you find on hell (regardless of what modifiers it has) should have the chance of rolling with +skills.
I believe the formula is the ouput item is 0.6 of the input item level, and the input item level = monster level = area level. So there's even places in nightmare that should be sufficient for rerolling gcs.
EDIT: lukefojut beat me to it.

It depends on the item level. It doesn't matter which affix it originally has, but you can make conclusions about the minimum ilvl it must have.
You need an item level of 50 for skillers. Regular monsters from the nightmare act 3 great marsh and beyond are L50. The best GCs are those from hell Diablo, Nihlathak and Baal. Their ilvl is high enough for any affix on GCs, including the one with 41+ life. That affix on its own is without a value, but it's a proof that it is dropped by one of them and if it appears in combination with a good skilltree bonus, its value will multiply by a few dozens.
wow thanks all for the explaination! I understand it now.

DOH! Of course! If it reduced item level, you wouldn't be able to repeatedly re-roll it without coming out with a ridiculously low ilvl after a few turns. My bad.

But there are other places to get items to roll.
If you're looking for plain +skills, I think nm act 3 is the first place that they can drop. Double check that before you roll a bunch.
If you're looking for dueling charms, obv. roll lower.

My tips is to search in act 3 Nightmare to get Grand charms.
But remember that they have to drop after Flayer Jungle i beleive. IŽll always take the travi wp and goes backwards to Lower Kurast in one game then change game, so I know that every GC that drops can be a skiller.
The last Grand charm became a Java skiller on the first 3 pgs =)
Use the ones with ilvl 91 or greater; they can have two versions of the "of vita" suffix (36-40 and 41-45) thus the chance of getting a life skiller is greater (and has the 45 life skiller chance) than on other charms.
I find my rerolling charms in 1.07 from a chest in an area with ridiculous high area lvl.

So the only grand charms that can have the highest "of Vita" suffix (+41-45) come from Diablo, Nihlathak, and Baal? Any other monsters, or just those three?
EDIT: Don't bother replying. I did some more checking around and this is true...only D, Nihl, and Baal can give +41-45 life on a GC.

The information below should be taken lightly as I'm not 100% sure about it
I don't know much about Baals minions in normal, but I know that normal Baal (information is taken from Arreat summit) is level 60 and you should be able to get a skill charm out of grand charms dropped by him, but you'll only get up to 30 life on those charms though, and thus not really worth it.

Helvete already pointed that out. I didn't have access to normal Baal's stats at my usual monster stat source, the archive of d2data - (it led to a "page not found" error), so I had to guess about it - and it seems I was wrong with that :azn:

I noticed that, a bit to late for that post though.
