help please

i am on a laptop that has been running diablo 2 for about 10 months, i then try and start up the game normally as i do all the time yesterday and to my surprise i get a direct draw error...."could not start the game client" if i remember correctly. so i uninstall and reinstall and now i am getting error 22 and vid test says that this computer cannot run diablo 2

but as i said before...i have been running it before now on this computer

so this laptop is not the best seeing as it is a work computer and not designed for games, the only chan ge that has been made between the last time i could play and this time is i uninstalled utorrent....which should have no impact at all

i have reinstalled display drivers (intel mobile 945gm chipset.....as i said crappy onboard card, but nonetheless i have run d2 and d2x before now sucessfully) reinstall did not work....so what do i do?

sorry if this is in wrong place but seeing as it is not a bug specific to 1.11 i thought i shouldnt put it there, and there isnt really a 'technical only' thread...uinless i missed it

but yeah any and all help is greatly appreciated

Welcome to the forums !

Try reinstalling your gfx card driver. Important: Don't just install it over the old one. Uninstall it before, then reboot, then reinstall (or similar). Check the page of the gfx card vendor for details about the installation.

also run dxdiag and do the tests (dddraw and d3d) on the display tab

if they give errors then its a driver problem like krischan said

One other thing to try is run the Video test for DII and choose 2D intead of 3D.
