Greetings!
I've just started playing D2 again after a long hiatus to other games that just weren't as fun. As silly as it might sound, I still have a blast playing this game!
In any case, on to the meat and potatoes.
I regularly partner up with another player who is a fishymancer. We've pooled our resources and they've got 700 mf - I know it's a waste right?
As far as I've scanned, everyone says more MF over 200-300 is only a waste if it lowers your killing speed.
In that vein I wanted to know if the boards had a suggestion for a partner for the fishy to increase their killspeed while they continue to wear max MF gear.
I was assuming a paladin or barbarian is going to probably be the right choice here. Also assuming the A2 Merc with Might would be the best choice.
Game wealth is a non-issue here, so spare no expense. As it is, both myself and my hire would be wearing full sets of runewords for additional auras.
Comments/suggestions?

Yes, a physical damage build is what compliments the Fishymancer most. Reason - frequent Amping by the Fishy, as well as all the crowd control you'll ever need, what with all the AI curses. Your choices are some melee build, or you can go with a strafeazon/multizon.
I have a question about your mf targets...are you going for bosses and looking to increase kill speed by getting your partner's fishy to the boss faster?
Or are you helping him mf areas by trying to help him kill everything while avoiding the killing stroke to allow your partner the chance to apply his mf?
If you're going for bosses I would agree with berg - a physical build like a fanatic zealot would be great. The usual entry of Hammerdin would probably speed things up as well. In any case a pally that uses a damage aura would probably be the best choice as that aura will help the minions as well. A druid w/HoWL would also be good since fanat, might, & conviction pallys can be replaced with Runewords.
If you're going to mf areas, then I would suggest a very sturdy build with a weak weapon & 90+ crushing blow percent, the idea being that you do alot of damage to monsters with alot of life but leave the killing stroke to your mf loaded buddy. A zealot would work; a barb w/a 1pt WW maybe; a frenzy barb; fendazon; furysin; fury werewolf. A sorc with a large radius static should also work, theoretically increasing kill speed by almost 50% on non-immune mobs in hell difficulty.
Skelies + max fantasism = :yikes:
I would take a paly partner if I was a fishymancer. Maybe a zealot.

Don't forget that the only benefit the skellies get is the damage and AR from aura. IIRC, someone told me that summons have this "attack delay", which lasts several frames, and it is not affected by IAS.

Actually i run a Fishymancer and my friend runs a gf Barb. It works great. I only run 400mf/900gf and my buddy usually uses his warcrys to strengthen my lil minions. I avoid CE on champions/bosses so he can use Find Item on them. Hope this helps.

An enchanter can really boost those skellies too, but it's a pain to enchant them all. And she is hard to play alone. And a demon limb is pretty expensive to repair, but can help immensely as well (lvl. 23 enchant IIRC).
With a pally damage aura enchanted skellies will cut down anything pretty quickly.

I currently play a hammerdin with my partner, and it sucks.
Why? Because I easily kill all non-boss mobs with my hammers of retarded destruction, thus applying my pathetic 150% mf vs their now 800% mf.
We do runs of entire areas and act bosses such as:
1) Chaos Sanctuary
2) WSK2/3/Baal
3) Durance 2/Meph
4) A1 Pit
5) Hell cows
We have a blast killing stuff, especially with ridiculous corpse explosion chains, so that's part of the fun for us.
I *really* like the sorc idea. I can max out static field AND enchant, and wear a ton of runewords.
My second idea was the barb with find item maxed, but we figure that is going to lose mileage compared to corpse explosion/getting new skellies that desyn etc.
Paladin only adds 1 more aura than everyone else, and if what ProfessionalBerg says is true, then maxing out fanat is just going to be a waste.
Sorc with Static+Enchant will probably increase kill speed to the extreme on regular mobs. Hires with CB work fine on bosses so no loss there really.
