If you have traded with him delete all items received. Do not restore any backups of items you have sent to him.
If you have a character that has used the received items and that character would have made the same progress then that's fine.
If that character could not have made the same progress then you need to contact myself or Catt to discuss how to put your character back to the same position it was in before using those items.
Beyond that do what you feel you have to do to feel comfortable about that character.
This is why you should:
a) check your trade partners
b) print atma readouts
c) wait before using items.
