shield for bear Better than stormshield?

Most say storm shield, but I have my eye on a phoenix monarch 400% ed(maybe) redemption aura, fire storm life bonus. where can U go wrong?

not using dupes to my knowledge. Just been hording pgems and med runes and uniques and trading for higher runes. What exactly is a dupe, as in someone makes one? And I do know there are ppl who farm em, and that aint really nice but, if its the only way we can get one and its affordable, why shouldn't we use it?

Apparently he's found Vex + Vex + Lo + Jah for Phoenix, Stinger.

But really Jason, you haven't been playing that long. Get a Guardian or two without the 1337 dupes and maybe you'll reevaluate how much you need them.

I have years playing original d2 in sp. Thats it the online is still new to me. Just wanna do well and help others out I donate most stuff I find. whats 1337? and whats guardian? And why do they make runewords if we can't get them legit?

2 pgem'd Moshers or a Sanctuary is a great shield for pretty much any char. Gerke's also rocks. I'd take any of these 3 shield over phnx for a bear. You'll find that assuming you have max speed of 4fpa the firestorm ctc will slow your attacking greatly. If your FC then the phy portion isnt terribly important.

oh the block rate also stinks on phnx shield, and it blocks slow to boot.

IMO phnx has it use on Fire Pallies/smiters
Barbs (ie ww and the ctc doesnt go off)
Javazons for mana control.

For the cost of making this shield you can make several other top runewords

What's the point of playing the game legit at all if you're not going to completely play legit, squiggle? That's why Stinger brings that up. The young generation is all about instant gratification; however, what they don't realise... is the tremendous feeling of accomplishment one experiences after grinding it out and playing fair and square. I'm with Stinger.

I'm 30 and have beaten the original sp. I'm only newer to the online version. The question wasn't are dupes wrong, and I never said I wantted a duped item. My quetsion was is the phoenix better than the storm shield. Lets get back on topic and quick fighting with eachother.

In the end I say no to Phoenix.

The main reason, as already said, is the CTC Firestorm. It will stop the FC attack way to much and you wont be able to attack during the casting delay.

Also, the ED% is kinda wasted since you will most likely be using a Shael'd PB. Even with Gris Caddy, its just not worth it IMO.

Then the whole ease of getting Vex Vex Lo Jah and all.


I'd either stick with SS, go Sanctuary, go Whistan's, or, if you choose to not go block (Bear's have low block rate IIRC) go with more of an offensive shield. Hell, you could even go Spirit if you wanted no block. But if you want block, SS is a great choice since it also has the DR%. If you want low req's, Whistan's. More res, Sanctuary.
