View Full Version : Easter eggs and other silly stuff
What random goofy things have you noticed that didn't have to be there, but were fun to find?
I know of these:
1) Secret Cow Level
2) Chickens run away from you when you get near them. You can even chase them out of town.
3) Dead bodies in Tristam explode when you click on them, even though they don't look clickable when you hover the mouse over them. This is the only one I found myself. :)

Wirts leg, but maby that's included in The Secret Cowlevel :)
try imbuing a non-socketed wirt's leg! you may be surprised at how it turns out :)
The heads of the statues at the river of flame waypoint follow you when you pass them.
1. Being able to teleport out of the map whilst in the tombs of Act 2.
2. Typing soundchaosdebug
I meant to include one of my former wirt's legs.
http://www.ninefrozentoes.net/D2/Screenshot001.jpg (my domain/host has been having issues so patience if/when it loads) +2 bo stick :D
I should also mention that one can indeed make cows with an imbued wirt's leg, and further if you have one of these you can't pick up any other wirt's leg in game - so no trying for two matching bo sticks for your barbs.
what I never did try to find out, is if a cudgel class item (wirt's leg is presumably one) can spawn/imbue with anything other than barb skills on it. e.g. palladin skills seemingly cross over into many of the mace/sword class items.

Oh yeah soundchaosdebug, it always freaks me out when all the act bosses' voices mash together.

I think cathedral windows can be found in river of flames, but Ive never seen them
You can stomp on the scorpions in act two desert and squish them.

What, you mean the iron-barred windows of Diablo's "Chaos Sanctuary"?

I thought I showed them to you once in the area before the river, that is where they appear.
In the past one could convert them asif they are monsters.
I found if you stand on one side, select charge and click on the other side(you have to be far enough from the window to start a charge) it appears to move out of it's frame.
Though perhaps that was a displaybug on my side.

ah it was you!
I remember searching for them with someone at some point : )
Don't forget the hidden doors in Act I in the Jail levels (and Catacombs?). I clicked one of those accidentally and didn't know what happened. Certainly caught me by surprise

If you open a cow portal while standing on the edge of town, the portal will open outside of town and be labeled "No Level Name".

When you see a completely closed off square in one of the jail levels, with the corner being jail-bars. There's allways some gold lying behind the bars which you can just reach. Click on the walls to the right of the bars. The wall with the torch on it will slide open. Just like the dead. explode when you click them, cows in Tristram, these walldoors will not show a 'usable/clickable" mousecursor when you hover them.
Not sure if this is true or really considered and egg, but the folks over at eeggs have this one in their list:
Inlcluded in the endgame credits... Lord de Seis, one of the bosses in Diablo's Chaos Sanctuary was named after Rick Seis, the lead programmer.
Shenk the Overseer (expansion) in the Bloody Foothills of Act 5, is named after Phil Shenk, a character artist.
The Halls of Vaught (expansion), Act 5 was named after Fred Vaught, a background artist.
what about the hidden files in the directory? i heard there were files of chars that were never put into the game but was also never deleted. i forgot the file names sorry, its been so long since i read about it.

I know a ton of the uniques have of developer names somehow incorporated into them. Don't know what they are off the top of my head, though.

Yeah, also from eeggs:
Diablo 2 - Hidden Characters
There are characters in Diablo II that are not used. To see them you have to edit a saved game with a hex-editor (UltraEdit-32).
Change the 34st number in:
05 = Dark Wanderer (brown robe)
06 or 07 = Dark Wanderer (gray robe)
08 = Warrior (Diablo I)
09 = Wizard (Diablo I)
10 = Diablo II fan
11 = Wizard
12 = Maid(en)
13 = Belltoller
There is one problem, the characters can not be used. When you want to start the savegame it freezes. :(
(I dont know if there are characters with 0A to 0F.)
Not sure if I want to try this though :wink3:

I thought that the "dark wanderer" = unrecognized client (e.g. chat bot) in the channel
There is also this figure of an admin - holding a keyboard, but I have never seen one on bnet (probably easiest to see on a private server)
