my friends and i are going to attempt to take down normal nightmare and hell in a day. there are around 6-8 of us, lan party. what characters and builds do you think we need?

it would be better if we had one class of each, we want to have fun. so keep that in mind when making suggestions.

so far, i think we need summoning druid, summoning necro with CE, ww barb, kicker/trap assassin. not sure what kind of amazon, paladin and sorc we need.

thanks for the help

make it a singer, a p&b necro, a wearbear druid, a martial artist, fire bowazon, abbot and an enchantress or hydra sorc. Could be cool, and a bit more challenging...

peace!

There's a thread somewhere about good MP-based complimenting builds. I'm trying to dig it up now, but if someone remembers it, feel free to look too. :wink3:

The main part of MP with a group is thinking about complimentary builds. A paladin can provide an offensive aura like fanaticism can help greatly a summon necro or FuryWolf. Similarly, a Conviction build can greatly help any elemental build.
Barb is really any build. Untwinked he probably won't be a killer in Normal Act 5, but his shouts are great.

With 6-8 players though, there's sure to be some form of complimenting builds. I say just enjoy it. The paladin alone with greatly help your main killers, whether it helps skeletons, or elemental is really up to you guys.

Edit: Sorry, can't find the thread.

Knew it was somewhere! Thanks Darkoooooo. I even tried googling for it when the search came back with nothing. Just had the wrong keywords.

Anyway, that guide should answer pretty much everything you'd want to know about MP class and skill combinations.

GL, and most of all, have fun!

you have no idea how many nights this has kept me awake. and the thread is mostly for smaller parties, where as you are talking about a major party. for the record, i havent found my perfect fit yet, but here would be what id go for. gear- one thing is, try and get as many auras as possible. my "perfect party" would be designed soley around sorceresses, i believe that they would have the highest killing speed, as 8 players cant gang bang a monster up close, however- not likely to happen because others would be bored to death. anyways, my dream party

BO barb- obvious reasons, sole purpose is to get BO as high as possible, secondary is to tank away.

Skellimancer- all the little tanks, again, for obvious reasons. lower resist (might be overkill), decrepify, whatever curse you like to use. CE probably wouldnt be necessary (or even have the opportunities to cast it)

Avenger, more specifically a pally with conviction- main purpose, stay alive. max prayer maybe and stick an infinity stick on him.

Lightning sorc- CL and L, obcviously to pwn

meteor/fire sorc- lotta damage

blizz sorc- help out with the occasional immunes, deal minus 100 resistances to boss monsters with high resists. plus it chills

??? frost zealout- get holy freeze as high as possible for the slow, should deal nutso cold damage too... works better than having it on a merc... unessecary if you can slow them by a large percentage... so another auradin

last one- idk... id probably pick an auradin, you could have salvation, or a higher defiance, maxed cleansing with maxed prayer for more life regen plus curses posion reduced... more skellies would be an option, holy shock, mind blast... whatever, nothing would last long at all...

gear- all those low end runewords, like edge, harmony, others i know im forgetting... that provide vigor, thorns, whatever... faith lol

mercs- mostly useless, id go with an a2 merc of each kind, 3 of them being prayer cause i think it stacks, giving your party some good life regen... thier auras will probably never be active anyways, so... 8 A3 cold for extra chilling could be an option to, also good for some lols.

other gear- since many charachters in the "perfect" party do nothing, get as many desirable party mods as you can- help the sorcs baby... as many slow monsters by x% as possible -(does this cap?) cause lol, you could almost slow them by 1000% if it doesnt. a whole lotta kelpies :wink3:

more life regen auras means less pots btw, you could literally use none of them at all, be entirely self sustaining. heh.

anyways, thats what id do if i had 7 other people to waste thier lives pwning bigtime, so...

get xfire or something so you can chat, that would help too... by chat, i mean have live conversations...

good luck, heh

@OP

My suggestion is to NOT have a party where all is based around one character. It'll become boring for other persons soon if they don't have nothing to do but boost someone's damage. I like iomanip's suggestion, don't make them cookie-cutters.

yes, it would be quite boring. but who hasnt dreamed of d2 slaves...

but back to the theme, id go with charachters you like... (wait... why didnt i offer useful advice last time...)

imo, i think any party will pwn if thier good builds and varied forms of damage... you should have a barb and a sorc though i think... BO and tele

enchantress /w maxed hydra
riftadin w/ slvl25 conviction
singer barb /w obv high BO
abbot paladin
trapsin
skelemancer w/ decrep
1pt smiter w/ fanaticism
strafazon

so you have fanaticism and enchant (plus decrep for -physical resistance) for the skellies, riftadin, singer, and strafazon. you have conviction for the trapsin, hydras, and rift's frozen orbs (plus the fire damage from enchant). you have the abbot to heal everyone and provide mana with prayer/meditation (prolly armed with insight polearm or whatever). and barb to provide battle orders, shout, and battle command. sounds like a pretty sweet, pretty complementary party.

I didn't really get this one. Not only Infinity is very hard to make if you don't use less-moral means, but also it gives lvl 12 Conviction, while a level 21+ conviction can be REALLY helpful in Hell where all monsters have at least some resistance.

I'd rather go with Insight stick if you put points in prayer.
Infinity can go on a merc and the pally doesn't have to be an aura mule.
