I havent played for a couple of years, and have made a zealer using the 1pt smiter guide.
im using
Helm: gaze
Ammy: metalgrid
Arm: coh
Belt: dungo
Glove: draks
Boots: gore
Ring1: Ravenfrost
Ring2:(trying to get a bk atm)
weap: pb grief
shield: hoz

i have a cta and spirit shield on switch. I sit at 2k life and 15k defence. i have only tried to do ubers once and managed to solo uber trist.

However, i have a huge problem with iron maiden. it simply destroys me. i have tried some limited methods of not using zeal against them, trying to switch weapon. But nothing was that successful. Getting to uber izual was harder than doin uber trist. izual was easy but i died 6-8 times getting to him.

How do zealers deal with iron maiden?

thanks for your help

1. get a wand/weapon with low physical damage and high elemental damage and zeal away.

2. use a bow

3. use gimmershreds/demon's arch and throw away

4. use the rushing method. get close to the oblivion knight so they'll cast decrep instead.

i'm sure there are other methods. =)

There are some useful links in the guides thread.

http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=594571 --> This is a list of good zealot weapons for IM and PI's.

http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=542638 --> This is a guide for a fanatic zealot that uses Death, Gimmershred and Dream to take on Oblivion Knight's. It's pretty expensive but should work pretty well.

vengeance will not do it...you're still doing physical damage.

I don't know if its in the guide but another option is Passion which has Berserk oskill on it. Berserk turns all your physical damage into magic damage, making you totally immune to IM. Just make sure you don't run completey out of mana because then you will do normal attack.

Passion with zerk ? Or is that too slow?

If you could find something like a "elemental damage here" wand of piercing, you might not be in bad shape either. ITD+somewhat hefty elemental damage.

Given that it only takes up two spaces in the inventory, and provides decent melee for PIs as well as ranged for IMs, Gimmershred is a solid choice. I picked up two recently and neither cost me more than a few pgems. Don't expect wonders, though.
