View Full Version : Windhammer Fury Wolf?
Bah, originally I wanted to try getting an Earth Shifter for Liquid Evil's Earth Shifter Fissure/Fury Wolf, but I can't seem to find anyone who has one or hasn't chucked it away in disgust or laughed at me when I asked... (In case you do have one, I'm on USWest Ladder. Please PM me. I'm very interested in it.) Anyway, I might try a variant Fury Wolf.
A while back I read some threads about CtC builds, and one possibility was Windhammer. I have a pretty good ED Windhammer just sitting on a mule gathering dust. I know from this thread:

That the most I can expect out of a synergized Tornado is 390-415 damage. Ouch. I won't have great expectations there for crazy damage. But I also thought about equipping him with two Carrion Winds for their Tornados and possibly other items to proc that would work well on such a Fury Wolf. I believe Windhammer can hit a 5 fpa Fury just with its 60% IAS, so that means I should get a decent amount of procage. I'm thinking I would also use an Atma's Scarab or Highlord's + Reaper's Toll on Merc so I could get a curse to deal with PIs.
What kind of skill layout would optimize the damage and attack on such a build? Is this Hell viable? Are there any other pieces of equipment which would synergize well with his skills or proc well?

Don't give up! :wink3:
But if you'd rather make use of the Windhammer you already have, read on.

Windhammer actually casts twisters so the damage is going to be even less impressive (though they do have that sweet fraction of a second stun ) Same with Carrion Wind rings, those are twisters they are kicking out. Just the same, those rings and that maul on a synergized druid should make for a good time. However, if you do want to make use of synergized tornados you'll need to make use of a Stormlash, Horizons, or similar.

I've always wanted to try one and have heard good things. Since it's basically just a novelty Fury druid it's still going to be very Hell viable. A Windhammer coupled with dual Carrions and a "Rain" armor should make for a twister-iffic char. Pick up CBF from a Trang's belt and rock the usual pvm wolf gear (Jalals, Drac's, etc, etc). And since tornados and twisters are physical damage attacks, you will definitely want to use Atma's or a Reapers Merc. Skills should look like +20 Hurricane and +20 Tornado to fully synergize twister, and the rest spent in Fury, Lycan, and a spirit of choice. The twisters will still only do ~200 dmg per hit, but several are loosed with each proc hit, and with that many twister sources, they should be firing almost constantly.
Carrion Wind: 8% Chance To Cast Level 13 Twister On Striking
2nd Carrion Wind: 8% Chance To Cast Level 13 Twister On Striking
Windhammer: 33% Chance To Cast Level 22 Twister On Striking
"Rain": 5% Chance To Cast Level 15 Twister On Striking
Good luck and let us know how it pans out.
I think it was JFK who said that "The hope still lives, and the dream shall never die..." regarding the Earth Shifter Fury Wolf. I'll keep trying, so long as I have time. That really is a build I want to try. :wink3:
I have a Horizon's somewhere, but I can't quite recall. Probably can find it if I dig through my mules more. Thanks very much for the skill layout and other equipment suggestions, and thanks for correcting me on Twister. Got Twister and Tornado mixed up there because of the similarity of the names. Luckily, I have most of the equipment you suggested or can easily acquire what I don't have, like the Mal for a "Rain" or perhaps I can get lucky with a Hellforge.
Would it be worth it to go with an ethereal Windhammer as well? I was taking a look at a weapon upgrade calculator, and it gave me this value for an eth Windhammer: 379-524 (451.5 avg). Quite a boost in damage over my normal Windhammer. Of course, it would require a Zod (got to love that dupe/theoretical rune) to keep it in good shape, and I could probably get one for really cheap. Normally I'm not enthusiastic about using dupe words or dupe runes, but I could probably make an exception in this case, since I wouldn't be overly sad if it poofed.

Don't get sucked into the dupes, Maiku! The force is still strong with you, don't give in!
I would just swing eth windhammers and keep a stock of them. It would probably be cheaper than the Zod, too. :lipsrsealed:

Jaba the Hutt: "You once were a good star pilot, now you are banther fodder... ha ha ha ha." You're right. I shall not give in and turn to the Dark Side of the Force.
is that confirmed about synergizing ctc spells?
