View Full Version : could this fissure/tornado hybrid possibly work?

I posted this in the druid section, but i guess it's better suited here, since it's mend for pvp.

Hi there,

i been playing a firedruid for a while now in pvp. Although it's very fun and it has the potential to kill some people very fast, it's also easily absorbed and/or stacked. The reason why i was thinking about a hybrid is that fire is kinda twosided. It either hits enemies very hard, or it does nearly nothing. So i guess i could get around with a bit less firedamage and a second non-fire attack. Tornado seems perfect, since it's spammable during fissure cooldown.

How i play it now:

I use fissure vs meleechars, running chars and as a defensive area skill vs some casters.

I like volcano, but only if it stunlocks. It does stunlock some , but only vs "not so good duellers" or kinda glasscannon builds. If it stuns it's great though. It's my main skill vs casters. It can be hard since it needs namelock and has a long timer.

Firestorm is good for backtrailing "tele on top" enemies. Tornado can be used this way too.

Armageddon is good damage , but too random. Although it's random, duels are most of the times long and it usually lands a hit.

Molten boulder isn't very usefull, it's too slow. and in situations were it's use-able i prefer firestorm most of the time.

So now my mind goes out to a tornado/fissure hybrid. Whereas all fireskills are timered. Fissure can be cast and while waiting for the timer to end, it's possible to cast tornado's. This will severely affect my firedamage though.

I made some calculation and whereas i use the 68%fcr breakpoint now, i will need the 99% fcr breakpoint if i am going to incorporate tornado. This is do-able without loss of skills.

Damage of fissure will become 3.5k instead of 5.6k i have now. I will have -50fireres instead of the -55 i have now.

Damage of tornado will become 3.5k

whereas my cyclone armor only absorbs 382 damage on my firebuild it will absorb 1800 damage on the hybrid.

Life will slightly go down from 4.3 to 4k because i will have to maintain 99%fhr. Also i won't have summon grizzly, but only a point in spirit wolves.

Note that i have 100frw on this build and 75res all in hell with a stack of over 50%

Will this be enough damage? How effective is tornado in killing casters in general, since it will have to compete with my volcano that i use now. Does 1800 absorb from cyclone help me out? I hope i get some insights on if this build is viable or not in pvp.

i'm especially interested in hearing the tornado-side of this build, since i don't have much experience with tornado. What are it's biggest plusses + downsides in general and in my 3.5k build?

Hi Gimmershred!

Thx for nice duels some nights ago.. Since a lot of people seems to die very fast to my windys 6 k tornado I really think a 3k tornado would be viable.

Actually thinking of making this hybrid myself...

Just /w *Elmquist you need any help!

Cheers!

5K tornado = 850 pvp dmg
6K tornado = 1020 pvp dmg
7K tornado = 1190 pvp dmg

If your opponent is wearing %PDR, it will go down further. A competent and well-equipped dueler will max out at 50% against a windy halving all of the above damages. The Tornados can hit more than once from my experience (though I can't recall ever having seen one hit 4 times)

Both damage are crippled

100frw
You'll be running instead of using enigma?

to be honest i think both ends of dmg is really low..

Yeah nados can hit a target more than once. But 3.5k nado after pvp penalty and dr is extremely low..

The fissue dmg is not enough imo as well. although ur using - res gear which does give u a much better chance..

Also running?? u will be easy pickings to tele-stomping based chars, i.e hammers, ww barbs etc they will just delay namelock u and telestomp till u die.. you have a much better chance if u use enigma.

run and tele or both used, just as on my pure firedruid. Also don't forget i also have fissure while i can cast nado's combined with -50%fireres. Also tornado is maxed and can be used as a means of ranged damage vs weak casters like some sorc. I can play very defensive and very offensive with this build, depending on the enemy. Anyways, as soon as i get my hands on some nice fcr amu i will try this out.

I think you people are used to tele on top and spam nado's till some1 is dead. That is not the idea of this druid. Vs good players I'd play offensive with fissure, and use nado's as "defensive shield"

p.s. costanza, thx for the nice duels too.

Goodluck
We're telling you that both damage is heavily crippled.
