After charging into hell solo with a lvl70 pure blizz sorc, my ActII defiance merc's old meat scraper/shako/shaftstop was simply not going to do. Still five more levels before I could equip him with Reapers Toll, I looked in my collection for a nice punchy polearm. This is what I found:

Bonehew
Ogre Axe
'Amn'
Two-Hand Damage: 176 to 911
Durability: 26 of 26
Required Dexterity: 65
Required Strength: 185
Required Level: 64
Polearm Class - Very Fast Attack Speed
Item Version: 1.10+ Expansion
Item Level: 86
Fingerprint: 0x251a04ce
+320% Enhanced Damage
7% Life stolen per hit
30% Increased Attack Speed
Prevent Monster Heal
50% Chance to cast Level 16 Bone Spear on striking
Level 14 Corpse Explosion (7/30 Charges)
Ethereal (Cannot be Repaired), Socketed (2: 1 used)

I had to swap shaftstop for Duriel's shell for a temporary strength boost, but man, I cruised right through Act 1, merc 2-hit-killing almost every cold-imune found.

The 7% LL from the Amn seems to be holding up fine, but question is, what should put into the second socket? I was thinking either IAS if it would get to another frame, more LL, or ED jewel?

In terms of complimentary gear I have shaftstop/shako/tals-mask/crown of thieves. No vampire gaze unfortunately. I thought this stick wouldn't hold up to Reapers Toll and decrepify, but man, the max damage is 2.5K, something Reapers simply won't do, and something I think is very important for a single tree sorc soloing Hell.

I'd recommend Shael, but calculate what the breakpoints are for a Merc with an Ogre Axe and give him enough IAS to achieve a nice, quick attack. And that's an ethereal Bonehew, right? Yours seems to have much higher damage than a normal Bonehew and is doing just a little less damage than one of my ethereal "Obedience" Threshers which are 1K damage a piece. (BTW, "Obedience" on Merc = pwnage.)

Yeah, sorry I should have put "perferct eth bone hew", but I don't think Bone Hew is perfect without eth, really . What is generally a good target attack framerate, I think a shael would give this stick 11 frames per attack...with looks the same as an unaided Obedience?

I've been eyeing Obedience for a while now, cause heck, it's the only uberpopular runeword that actually has practical runes (and I have all of them). If I tried out Obedience, thresher is obviously the best candidate for inherent speed, but what do you compliment it with for LL and off-weapon IAS? The damage would be greater than this guy, and the mods look quite sweet, so should I go for that?
